Description

Do you want to be part of developing and managing properties in a parish with breadth, engagement, and many meeting places? Our property engineer is retiring after more than ten years in Gislaved Parish. We are now looking for a successor and offering a key role for someone who wants to be a central part of our joint work.

Gislaved Parish comprises six congregations: Anderstorp, Burseryd, Gislaved, Norra Hestra, Villstad, and Västbo Sankt Sigfrid. Geographically, the parish coincides with Gislaved Municipality. As part of the Church of Sweden, we are a democratically structured organization with a clear mission – to celebrate worship, conduct education, and practice diaconia and mission. Here, there are 76 employees organized into work teams. We believe that people grow together and that collaboration between the work teams is a prerequisite for fulfilling the Church of Sweden's mission locally.

About the Role

The parish's property portfolio consists of 18 churches, a funeral chapel, 19 cemeteries, and a large number of associated buildings. As a property engineer, you are responsible for ensuring that our churches, parish halls, and other buildings are managed and developed in a sustainable and appropriate manner based on the church's fundamental tasks, with a special focus on preserving cultural heritage.

You play a central role in creating structure, long-term planning, and quality in property management. The role involves both strategic and operational work. From planning and analysis to implementation and follow-up. An important part of the role is being the client/purchaser of services, where you are responsible for procuring, coordinating, and following up on external actors such as contractors, consultants, and services from the diocese.

The work involves a great deal of cooperation and coordination with everyone who works in and uses the church and premises, both at the parish and diocesan levels. In some cases, you will be the presenter of matters in some of the parish's committees, which may involve evening work once a month.

Responsibilities

As a property engineer in Gislaved Parish, you are responsible for, among other things:

  • Managing and developing the parish's property portfolio.
  • Initiating, planning, leading, and following up on projects such as renovations and new construction. You act as the client/purchaser of external services and ensure compliance with and follow-up on contracts.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal requirements, such as the Working Environment Act, the Cultural Environment Act, and the Planning and Building Act.
  • Applying for relevant grants, such as church antiquarian compensation (KAE) and grants for cultural environment care (County Administrative Board).
  • Developing and maintaining maintenance and care plans, and contributing to budget and investment planning.
  • Monitoring costs against the budget, analyzing results, and preparing decision-making materials.
  • Working on energy optimization, sustainability, and long-term property planning for the buildings.
  • Preparing and presenting cases in the property committee and other decision-making forums.

Qualifications

You have relevant education and documented experience in property, construction, or engineering, as well as experience in property management and/or project management. You have good financial understanding and are accustomed to working with budgets and follow-ups; experience in procurement or client roles is advantageous. We would appreciate experience working with cultural-historical methods, materials, and building techniques, as the churches are protected by the Cultural Environment Act.

You have experience and knowledge of relevant systems such as Office 365 and Aveny. Experience with technical management systems (DeDu) is an advantage.

You understand working in an organization with interaction between civil servants and elected officials. Experience from the Church of Sweden or similar operations is an advantage.

As a person, you are structured, responsible, and solution-oriented. You drive your work forward, build good relationships, and thrive in a role that combines a holistic perspective with implementation.

Conditions

A B-driver's license is required, and having your own car is an advantage.

You are a member of the Church of Sweden.

Selection and interviews may take place continuously during the application period, so do not wait to apply.
