Job Description
As a mechanical designer at Kalmar Motor, you will have a broad and technically varied role where you work with the design of, among other things, chassis including drivetrains, combustion and electric motors, gearboxes, axles, and cooling systems. You are involved in the entire development process and contribute to ensuring that our machines meet high demands for function, safety, and quality. In close collaboration with other departments, you are responsible for defining technical specifications for components and systems and ensuring that customer requirements, legal requirements, and internal standards are met. You plan and carry out design activities according to set goals, requirements, and schedules in consultation with the responsible manager. The role also involves reviewing and approving purchase drawings according to current standards, selecting design solutions, materials, and components, and initiating and ordering tests for verification and evaluation of designs. You have a coordinating and requirement-setting function and become a key person in the technical work. There are many contacts, both internally and externally, which requires good communication skills.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a university or college education with a technical focus, combined with a few years of relevant work experience. Alternatively, you have a secondary education with substantial practical experience in mechanical design. To thrive in the role, you are self-initiating and solution-oriented, with the ability to think creatively and outside the box. You enjoy collaborating, are curious about new technology, and take responsibility for your tasks. As a person, you are structured, meticulous, and have a good overall perspective. You are positive, proactive, and driven by taking on technical challenges and finding sustainable solutions. Leadership experience, for example as a team leader or group manager, is meritorious. You are fluent in Swedish and English in both speech and writing. Experience with the CAD tool Inventor is meritorious. Location: Kalmar. You report to the Technical Manager.
