About the role – Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

This role is for you if you see the big picture, keep the work together, and ensure that the right things are done at the right time by the right people. You coordinate and support the technical work in projects – rather than being the one doing all the design yourself. You ensure that the right technical work happens, in the correct sequence, by the right people. You work closely with project managers, designers, automation engineers, and production, acting as the technical hub in the projects.

Responsibilities and Tasks

• Coordinate and review design work based on customer requirements within mechanical projects
• Monitor technical risks and raise them in the appropriate forums
• Support project managers with planning, prioritization, and follow-up
• Ensure clarity in working methods, documentation, and deliverables
• Follow up on design work and lead design reviews
• Act as the contact point between design, procurement, production, and automation
• Contribute to developing working methods, routines, and collaboration in projects

We are looking for someone who:

Has a technical education or equivalent experience, along with at least eight years of experience in mechanical design. You have a good understanding of leading and supporting design work in a project format and thrive in a coordinating role where the focus is on progression, structure, and close collaboration with production. You possess strong knowledge in leadership, machine building, customer- and production-oriented work, as well as pneumatics, servo technology, and relevant machinery directives, risk assessment, and CE marking. Experience with CAD/PDM and integration with ERP systems, project work within automation or machine building, and technical follow-up are considered merits.

As a person, you are technically sharp and a natural leader who enjoys sharing your knowledge and raising the level of the team around you. You are structured, communicative, and proactive, with the ability to create order in complex projects and drive work forward in a non-hierarchical manner. Above all, you like to make things work in practice – not just design them.
