About Us

Do you want to complete your Specialist Training (ST) in psychiatry within a department where you encounter all psychiatric conditions and simultaneously have the opportunity to address complicating factors such as somatic illness and potentially affected cognitive functions? Within the Neuropsychiatry department, you as an ST-doctor can benefit from the department's broad psychiatric scope, active research, and the opportunities offered by a large organization.

The Neuropsychiatry department is one of five adult psychiatric departments within Sahlgrenska University Hospital. We provide specialized psychiatric care focusing on the elderly, memory-related diseases, neuropsychiatric conditions such as autism and ADHD, eating disorders, deaf psychiatry, care psychiatry, and Huntington's disease. We have approximately 300 employees located in Mölndal, at Sahlgrenska Hospital, and in central Gothenburg. We provide both outpatient and inpatient care as well as world-class research. We strive to be a role model in Swedish adult psychiatry regarding person-centered work and offering evidence-based treatments and investigations. Here you will meet patients across the entire psychiatric diagnostic spectrum.

Job Responsibilities

Within the department, great importance is placed on the education of future specialist doctors in psychiatry, where there are opportunities for research, education, and development.

As an ST-doctor at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, you will be assigned a main supervisor and an education program upon starting your position, which is regularly monitored by the manager and study director. The main supervisor meets with the ST-doctor regularly and is responsible, together with you, for your professional development. An ST position takes at least five years, during which the ST-doctor works in acute psychiatric care, inpatient care, and outpatient care to gain a holistic view of the assessment, treatment, and follow-up of psychiatric conditions.

About You

We are looking for you who hold a Swedish medical license with permission to work in Swedish healthcare and see psychiatry as your future specialty. You have a genuine interest in the diseases and disabilities that affect brain functions and want to contribute to developing care for these patients. You must have fluent Swedish, at least level C1.

Research, pedagogy, quality/improvement and innovation work, as well as previous specialization in Psychiatry from another country, are particularly meritorious.

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
