About the Job

You will have a primary employment as a clinical veterinarian at the small animal department. In addition to your clinical role, you will have personnel responsibility for veterinarians.

You will lead veterinarians together with our Veterinary Manager, Rose Nolting, and be responsible for operational and business matters together with other managers. You are part of the UDS small animal operations group. The Department Head is your direct supervisor.

In your work, you collaborate with other managers in the department's leadership group, as well as with senior veterinarians and specialists, to ensure high-quality and efficient care and a good educational environment for our students. All employees contribute to providing good veterinary care and creating good conditions for clinical education and research for students and researchers.

The position involves scheduling during both daytime and unsocial hours, as the UDS small animal department operates 24/7.

We offer you leadership development through our management and leadership training programs at SLU, as well as training in pedagogy.

Your Background

You have been clinically active as a veterinarian for a few years and are confident in the tasks faced by a veterinarian at a 24-hour animal hospital. It is meritorious if you have Step 1 competence in canine and feline diseases or higher education. It is also meritorious if you have leadership experience and experience from business development.

You enjoy seeing employees grow in their roles and developing the business. You are fair, supportive, and positive in your approach to your colleagues. You value teamwork and involving others.

You are communicative with a good ability to create and maintain good relationships with colleagues. You understand that an event-driven operation with irregular working hours is something you can handle. Your approach is scientific with an interest in evidence-based care, and you appreciate that UDS conducts teaching and research. You are a positive role model in customer interactions and professional in your approach.

As a person, you are structured, can handle occasionally pressured situations, have good self-awareness, and a desire to contribute to the business. You have the ability to prioritize when the situation requires it. You express yourself well in both speech and writing in Swedish.

About Us

The Department of Clinical Sciences is responsible for basic education, research, and doctoral education in anesthesiology, imaging diagnostics, animal nursing, epidemiology, laboratory animal science, surgery, clinical chemistry, medicine, and reproduction. Our operations span all animal species within all subjects.

At SLU University Hospital for Animals (UDS), education, research, and advanced veterinary care go hand in hand. We educate tomorrow's veterinarians and veterinary nurses and provide first-class care to companion animals, competition animals, and production animals. We also spread knowledge to the public. By combining established knowledge with the latest research results, we are developing the veterinary care of the future.

Under one roof, we offer healthcare for horses, dogs, cats, and other small animals. In addition to modern, business-adapted facilities, we have access to advanced imaging diagnostics and a veterinary medical specialist laboratory. UDS operations also include an ambulatory clinic that visits stables and farms to examine and treat horses and livestock.
