Snitz Gymnasium in Stockholm is located in new premises on Stora Essingen. Approximately 200 students attend the school, distributed across the Esthetics Programme, the Electricity and Energy Programme, as well as Programme-specific Electives and the Vocational Introduction Programme. Snitz Gymnasium targets students with neuropsychiatric disabilities and has developed a pedagogy to meet the needs of students requiring pronounced special support.
Established in 2003, Snitz Gymnasium offers upper secondary education with vocational and university-preparatory courses within the Electricity and Energy Programme (specializing in Computer and Communication Technology), the Esthetics Programme (specializing in Image and Form, and Aesthetics and Media), and the Vocational Introduction Programme (specializing in SPV - Special Pedagogical Activities). The target group consists of students with neuropsychiatric variations who require enhanced support at the school, group, and individual levels. The school has been newly renovated and adapted to this target group. The school library is centrally located, accessible, and very well-designed. The position is 70% and you will play a key role in our reading project and the development of reading at the school.
We are looking for you with a degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent education (minimum three years in Humanities). You will continue to develop our library operations into an active and integrated part of the school's pedagogical work. As a school librarian, you have two main tasks: promoting reading and Media and Information Literacy (MIL). It is also important to develop library skills among all students. To achieve this, you are expected to collaborate with both school management and teachers. You have a solution-oriented attitude, are flexible, and proactive in developing the library's operations in relation to teaching.
You are an independent, organized, and creative person with pedagogical skill, as you will regularly visit classes in the library and classroom settings. You are welcome to organize activities in the library, such as a book club. It is very important at Snitz that the library is always a calm and safe place where all students feel welcome.
Your responsibilities will include among other things:
- Responsibility for the daily operations of the school library
- Support for students in information seeking and reading promotion activities
- Collaboration with school staff regarding teaching and thematic work
- Development of school library operations in line with the Swedish National Agency for Education's guidelines
Your profile and qualifications:
- Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent education (minimum three years in Humanities).
- Experience with school libraries, preferably at the upper secondary level.
- Good collaboration skills and pedagogical understanding.
- Interest in youth literature, education, and reading development.
This is what you will become a part of
At Snitz Gymnasium, you will encounter joy, energy, engagement, and creativity. You will also become part of an exciting and important development work for our target group. New ideas, perspectives, and an ambition to develop our school permeate the operations. We are not just a meeting place for studies and goal achievement, but also a place where our students have the opportunity to grow as individuals alongside staff and schoolmates based on their prerequisites.
As part of AcadeMedia, you will participate in various network meetings and receive support from a central school library coordinator.
