Höglandsförbundet is a municipal association formed by Aneby, Eksjö, Nässjö, Sävsjö, and Vetlanda. These five municipalities, located in the Småland Highlands, value cooperation and know that we are stronger together. By combining our strengths and resources, we can increase competence, utilize resources more effectively, raise quality, and provide better service to our residents. Today, we host a variety of activities working for the best of the entire Highlands region.

Within Höglandsförbundet, there is also Höglandets utbildningssamverkan (The Highlands Educational Collaboration), which currently consists of Höglandsgymnasiet with schools in Eksjö, Nässjö, Sävsjö, and Vetlanda. In total, we are approximately 550 employees working to ensure our roughly 3,000 students receive high-quality education that prepares them for the future in the labor market or further studies. In the summer of 2026, the adult education programs of the Highlands will also join, located in Sävsjö, Eksjö, and Nässjö.

Your new job

We are a team that values development, innovation, and an open approach. The operation is flexible and in constant change, and a large part of the job is to meet students based on their needs and conditions.

Currently, there are two career counselors working at the school. Together, you will be part of a team with teachers, special educators, school leadership, and administration. Your main task is to work with Vocational Adult Education (Yrkesvux), basic adult education, and Swedish for Immigrants (SFI), as well as other tasks within the framework of career counseling. The job involves a significant amount of administration and collaboration with the Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen), NNAB (Nässjö Business Community), and AMI (Nässjö Municipality's labor market unit).

As of July 1st, the adult education in Nässjö will belong to Höglandets utbildningssamverkan, Höglandsvux, which also includes adult education in Eksjö and Sävsjö. The operation is politically governed with the mandate to have overall responsibility for KOMVUX (basic and upper secondary adult education, adapted education for adults, and Swedish for immigrants (SFI)).

About you

We are looking for someone with a degree from the Career Counseling program and preferably a few years of professional experience. It is an asset if you have experience working within adult education and/or upper secondary school.

You have good IT skills in Word and Excel, and it is an asset if you have experience with student administration. At the school, we work with Tieto's system Edlevo.

As a person, you have good pedagogical insight and enjoy inspiring and collaborating with both students and colleagues. You are structured and plan, organize, and prioritize your work efficiently. You are solution-focused and strive, together with colleagues and students, to create a good climate where all students' needs and differences are respected.

About our school

The adult education in Nässjö has been located since 2014 in the Ärlan block in the old, historic Centralskolan. From here, all municipal adult education in Nässjö is organized. Approximately 800 students study at the school, and we have around 30 employees. Adult education plays an important role regarding competence development, eligibility for further studies, career changes, and meeting the competence needs in our region.

Good to know

The position is based in Nässjö in the Ärlan building (formerly Centralskolan's premises) but involves collaboration within the framework of Höglandsvux with Eksjö and Sävsjö.

As a final candidate in the recruitment process, it is a requirement, in accordance with the Education Act, that you present an extract from the criminal register for work within schools. You can request this register extract on the Police's website.

If you are called for an interview, you must be able to prove your citizenship. This is done by showing a valid passport or a certificate of citizenship together with a valid ID document. A certificate of citizenship is ordered from the Swedish Tax Agency via "My Pages". If you are a citizen of a country outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland, you must also be able to present a valid residence and/or work permit to work in Sweden. Employment can only take place after the work permit has been verified, in accordance with the Aliens Ordinance.
