County Administrative Board is looking for an officer for wetland projects
The County Administrative Board is ramping up efforts to establish and restore wetlands as well as disseminate information about wetland measures. Would you like to contribute to this work?
Nature Conservation Unit
The Nature Conservation Unit consists of 16 employees, who manage approximately 150 of the county's nearly 200 nature reserves. This involves ensuring that biotope management measures are implemented, such as clearing, conservation burns, mowing, and grazing animals in the fields. The unit is also responsible for hunting, wildlife, and predator issues, for example, for the inventory of large predators and applications for protective hunting.
The unit is also responsible for the government's wetland initiative, where the County Administrative Board leads and coordinates wetland work in the county. The County Administrative Board runs its own restoration projects within protected areas and for endangered species. Another part of the wetland initiative is the LONA wetland grant (Local Nature Conservation Initiative), where the county's municipalities can apply for financial support for the establishment and restoration of wetlands. This year, the County Administrative Board has also received additional funds to disseminate information and encourage landowners to implement wetland measures on their land.
Job Responsibilities
You will drive the restoration of wetland environments by planning, implementing, and following up on restoration measures within the County Administrative Board's own wetland projects. This may involve procurement, field planning work, and managing contractors who carry out the measures. The measures implemented include both hydrological restoration of peatlands and vegetation restorations in, for example, rich fens, flood forests, and on coastal meadows. You will also collaborate extensively with colleagues working on wetland measures and managing the county's nature reserves.
You will also work on outreach contacts with landowners and other stakeholders to encourage the implementation of wetland measures and inform about the possibility of applying for grants for wetland projects. The work also involves developing knowledge bases for guidance and prioritization regarding various wetland measures. Other related tasks within the unit may also become relevant as part of the position.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is an educated biologist, natural scientist, or equivalent with documented aquatic knowledge, preferably with a focus on wetland ecology, hydrology, or similar. You enjoy both computer work and fieldwork, and you have a B driver's license. It is advantageous if you have knowledge and experience in handling matters within public administration, at a county administrative board or another government agency, experience in GIS usage, and previous experience in wetland restoration. If you have held a leading or coordinating role before, that is also an advantage.
As a person, you are self-driven and structured and take responsibility for your tasks. You have an aptitude for administration and plan your work based on the organization's goals, focusing on results. You enjoy solving tasks through collaboration and are a good colleague and team member by being attentive, flexible, open, and solution-focused. You communicate well both internally and externally in speech and writing, and you enjoy having many external contacts, disseminating information, and giving presentations. Since the work involves contacts with many stakeholders, you can adapt your message to the target audience and situation. If conflicts arise, you contribute to solutions in a constructive manner. You represent the County Administrative Board in a trustworthy manner. We place great importance on your personal qualities.
Conditions
The employment is permanent and begins with a six-month probationary period with a start date according to agreement. Your job title at the agency will be officer.
Other
As an employee of the state, you are expected to share the state's values and contribute to developing a good administrative culture characterized by democracy, human rights, and legal certainty, efficiency, and accessibility.
