Researcher in Theoretical Physics

The researcher position belongs to the Department of Theoretical Physics, one of the ten departments within the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Uppsala University. Our department offers an international working environment for world-leading research in quantum field theory, gravitation, string theory, and related areas of mathematical physics. The department currently consists of about 30 research-active members. The researcher position is part of a project funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation.

Job Responsibilities

The applicant is expected to conduct research in theoretical physics related to string theory and gravitation theory. A research area of particular interest is the cosmological theory of dark bubbles and the production of gravitational waves in the early universe.

Qualifications

PhD in theoretical physics or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD in theoretical physics. The degree must be obtained by the time of the employment decision.

Desirable/meritorious

Particularly meritorious is previous experience with advanced-level research concerning dark bubbles in string theory and cosmology.

About the Employment

The employment is temporary, 6 months. The scope is full-time. Start date: June 1 or by agreement.
