The Department of Medical Sciences is a large clinical institution with approximately 250 employees and over 900 affiliated with the Academic Hospital. The department has a broad research profile with strong research groups in various areas. Research takes place in close proximity to the clinical operations at the Academic Hospital and includes both fundamental studies on disease mechanisms and the development and evaluation of improved diagnostics and new treatment methods. Job Responsibilities

The research group in clinical neurophysiology conducts translational research focusing on optimizing diagnostics, follow-up, and pathophysiological mapping of diseases caused by disturbed neuromuscular transmission. The current research project aims to map disease mechanisms in the autoimmune neuromuscular disease Myasthenia Gravis (MG) in an in-vitro model system of human nerve and muscle cells. Job responsibilities include electrophysiological analysis in multi-electrode arrays (MEA) of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) differentiated into nerve and muscle cells. Supervision of students is also included.

Qualifications

Eligible for employment as a researcher in neurophysiology is someone who has obtained a doctoral degree in in-vitro neurophysiological methods. The position requires documented experience in working with cell culture of human iPSC cells, electrophysiological recording, including calcium signaling, and analysis as well as advanced microscopy.

Desirable/meritorious

Own publications in international peer-reviewed journals in neurophysiology are highly valued, as well as documented ability to work independently and experience working with nerve or muscle cells. Good knowledge of English is appreciated.

About the Employment

The employment is temporary for 3 months, from July 1 to September 30, 2026. The extent is 100%. Start date by agreement. Location: Uppsala
