Business Description

Maria Preschool is located in central Gällivare, close to the library, swimming pool, and museum.

Maria Preschool has organized its activities into age-divided groups. The preschool consists of 2 buildings with separate yards. In one building, there are 3 departments for children aged 1-2 years. In the other building, there are 5 departments with children divided into age groups of 3-5 years. At Maria Preschool, we work in 3, 4, and 5-year groups, which means that the teams collaborate across departments and give children the opportunity to explore and discover different learning environments.

Job Responsibilities

The role as a resource means that you will be an additional person in the team so that the preschool can meet children with special support needs.

You will be part of the team, and together you will design a safe, stimulating, and developing education and learning environment for the children. The curriculum (Lpfö18) describes the work and education that the preschool offers the children.

Together, the team designs the education so that children in need of special support receive the assistance and challenges they need in their development, as well as being stimulated and developed in their play and learning.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a trained preschool worker and has experience working with children with disabilities, as well as meeting children with special support needs.

It is important:

• that you are familiar with our governing document, the Curriculum for Preschool (Lpfö18),
• that you are a confident and clear leader, able to take initiative, positive, and have faith in children's diverse competencies,
• that you value trusting relationships with children and guardians and have good collaboration skills,
• that you have knowledge of TAKK (sign language as an alternative and complementary communication) and visual support.

Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.

You need to provide an extract from the police criminal record for work within schools and childcare upon employment.

Working Hours/Duration

Full-time, fixed-term employment for the school year 2026/2027.
