EMMA Preschool is located in Mettä-Dokkas, right next to Emmaskolan. The town of Gällivare is about thirty kilometers away. The preschool has two departments with 18 children in each group, ages 1-5. The departments share a hallway and a large playroom – the Square. The preschool also has a large and wonderful studio that offers many opportunities for creativity and exploration. The two departments – Skogsgläntan and Skogstrollet – work together.

At the preschool, we meet our children in their first education and in their first steps in lifelong learning, where you as an educator are important.

Job Responsibilities

The preschool's curriculum (Lpfö18) describes the preschool's values and mission and includes goals and guidelines for the work in preschool. The children in preschool should receive a safe education where care, development, and learning form a whole.

The work as a childcare worker means that you, together with the team, design a safe and developing education for the children at the preschool. The work is challenging, exciting, creative, and takes place in close collaboration with your team and colleagues at the preschool.

As a childcare worker, you are part of a team and participate in planning, implementation, and evaluation of the education offered to the children. You collaborate with the team, and together you provide the children with a fun and educational experience.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a trained childcare worker or someone who is studying to become a childcare worker. Alternatively, you may have another education that the employer considers equivalent.

It is important:

-      that you are familiar with our governing document, the Curriculum for Preschool (Lpfö18),

-      that you are a confident and clear leader, able to take initiative, positive, and have faith in children's various competencies,

-      that you care about building trusting relationships with children and guardians, and that you have good collaboration skills,

-      that you use pedagogical conversations and documentation in your work,

-      that you use visual support and TAKK (sign language as alternative and complementary communication),

-      that you are interested in developing the preschool.

Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, is a prerequisite for the position. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability.

Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality.
