Your Responsibilities

You will work at the main library and build relationships with library visitors where customer service is your primary focus. Your work will include media work and meeting, guiding, and assisting visitors. You will belong to and be an important part of the Public Meetings Team, which is responsible for programs, exhibitions, and presentations aimed at adults at the main library. Together, you will create, implement, and evaluate the public activities, manage administrative routines, and collaborate with external actors. Your mission will be to actively participate in the team's collective work, but you will have a particular focus on driving and developing the reading promotion work within adult literature. The job involves a high degree of visitor contact as well as standing on stage and meeting the audience. The team also has the primary responsibility for the administrative part of the public work. The position also includes regular library duties such as external service at library desks and media management.

Evening and weekend work is required in this position.

Your Workplace

Linköping City Library consists of 12 library units that work together to drive and develop Linköping City Library. We want the library to be an interactive meeting place for everyone. Central to us is working with democracy, education, and culture. We focus on prioritizing target groups, operating outside our own premises, collaborating with other activities, and increasing participation culture. We aim to create space for innovation and open up to new cultural expressions in close collaboration with other cultural activities.

Linköping City Library, together with other public libraries in Östergötland and Tranås, forms the Götabiblioteken. The goal for the Götabiblioteken is to bring people together, make knowledge come alive, spark imagination, and enable everyone to discover and learn to create a strong and sustainable society where everyone can achieve their dreams.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone with a university or college degree in a relevant field for the position, such as library and information science. You have solid knowledge of fiction for adults, as well as experience in reading promotion work. Furthermore, it is advantageous if you have experience working with service and customer interaction, as well as good computer skills to assist library users with services and technology available through the library. Previous experience in library work is preferred, and it is highly desirable if you have experience planning and conducting events and programs, as well as moderating discussions and confidently engaging with the audience. It is desirable that you enjoy speaking in front of people and can engage and convey knowledge. Since the role involves a lot of contact and communication with others, it is required that you master Swedish in both speech and writing.

It is important that you are good at collaborating with others, while also enjoying working independently and taking responsibility for your tasks.
