We are approximately 8000 employees working in healthcare, dental care, regional development, and public transport. Healthcare is Region Värmland's largest operation.

We operate 30 health centers with maternal and child health care and many other specialist clinics. In Värmland, there are emergency hospitals in Arvika, Karlstad, and Torsby.

The Surgical Clinic at the Central Hospital in Karlstad provides care in acute and trauma surgery, colorectal surgery, upper abdominal surgery, breast surgery, endocrine surgery, vascular surgery, urology, and endoscopy. At our clinic, we have about 55-60 employed doctors and urologists.

Your Responsibilities

As a resident doctor at the surgical clinic, you will receive excellent support from your colleagues in your development towards becoming a fully qualified specialist. You will have a designated supervisor and allocated time for guidance. Employees are expected to actively drive their own development by preparing for patient cases and continuously acquiring theoretical knowledge.

Your tasks will vary between outpatient care, emergency care, surgery, and ward work. You should thrive in a fast-paced work environment and be flexible. The tasks are based in Karlstad and partly in Arvika, but no external rotations are required to complete your residency training.

Your Skills and Competencies

We are looking for a licensed physician with the authority to practice in Swedish healthcare and a genuine interest in surgical activities. You should have good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form. Experience in clinical surgery or urology is advantageous but not a requirement. The ability to actively participate in learning situations is expected.

As a person, you are good at interacting with colleagues, staff, and patients. You can take initiative when the situation requires it and are a stable person with a good ability to remain calm in challenging situations. You possess problem-solving analytical skills and a clear holistic view that allows you to assess and prioritize based on the overall needs of the organization.

Interviews will be conducted continuously throughout the recruitment process.
