We are now looking for an experienced data center/server technician
We are looking for an experienced data center/server technician with leadership skills and expertise in data center operations, server architecture, and automation, who wants to drive our technical development forward. In this role, you will combine deep technical expertise in both Linux and Windows environments with project management and a more strategic responsibility, in close dialogue with the business and stakeholders.
We offer a role where you have significant influence over technical choices, lead change initiatives, and contribute to shaping the future data center solutions at Servanet. The group you will belong to is Servanet Operations, which currently consists of 11 technicians and an operations manager.
Your Contribution in the Role
As a data center and server technician, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and further developing robust, secure, and scalable server environments that support the business's needs and goals. You will also play a central role as a technical expert, mentor, and project leader in the data center area, driving development forward and taking overall responsibility.
Your tasks include:
- Overall responsibility for the operation, architecture, and further development of server environments in Linux and Windows.
- Operational work with the management and maintenance of our data centers and servers.
- Leading and participating in technical projects – from needs analysis and planning to implementation, delivery, and follow-up.
- Driving standardization, automation, and continuous improvements within server and infrastructure environments.
- Ensuring security, compliance, and up-to-date documentation in the server environments.
- Acting as a technical advisor to management, other departments, and customers.
Tools may be included in the position in the long term.
Your Skills and Experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- A minimum of a high school education in IT, preferably a university degree focused on IT, computer engineering, or network and system administration, or equivalent work experience.
- Several years of experience working as a server technician, infrastructure consultant, or similar.
- Deep expertise in both Linux (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS) and Windows Server (AD, GPO, IIS, PowerShell).
- Expertise in data center operations and server architecture.
- Good understanding of networks, security, and virtualization (VMware, KVM).
- Driver's license B.
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written form.
Preferred Experience and Knowledge:
- Good knowledge of network protocols, network configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with backup solutions and data protection.
- Experience in project management and technical leadership.
- Certifications in networking and server administration.
- Good knowledge of scripting, e.g., PowerShell, Python.
To succeed in this role, you are flexible and can quickly adapt to changes in both technology and the business's needs. You have good collaboration skills and build relationships through open dialogue while driving development and communication forward in the organization when implementing new solutions.
You take clear responsibility and work proactively to prevent incidents and ensure a stable and secure IT environment. The role requires precision and a methodical approach, where you can drive work through the entire process from needs analysis and design to implementation.
You are also proactive and solution-oriented, contributing improvement proposals and ensuring correct configurations, good documentation, and high quality. At the same time, you are customer-focused, communicate clearly, and build long-term relationships with a high level of service.
