Occupational Therapist to the Rehabilitation Unit

Are you a recent graduate or an experienced occupational therapist who enjoys a varied job where you can broaden your skills? Then you might be the one we are looking for at the Rehabilitation Unit.

Here at the Rehabilitation Unit, we are a cheerful group of mixed professions with a strong focus on health and health-promoting activities. Our Health Team is an active group that ensures we have activities planned in our health calendar. New fun activities every month and recurring challenges are on the agenda.

Job Responsibilities

As an occupational therapist with us at the Rehabilitation Unit, you will have a varied job as we work with both inpatient and outpatient care. We work with general medical departments with round-the-clock operations (heart and lung diseases as well as gastrointestinal, liver, kidney, and blood diseases), acute care units, and acute stroke units, as well as rehabilitation departments focused on stroke, orthopedics, and geriatrics. The Rehabilitation Unit also has assignments with various clinics, including dialysis and advanced home care (AH). We conduct rehabilitation in the home environment in the form of external stroke teams and outpatient rehabilitation teams for individuals with stroke and other acquired brain injuries.

In your role as an occupational therapist at the Rehabilitation Unit, you will perform ADL assessments/training, assistive device evaluations, information and counseling, lead rehabilitation rounds, and report patients to the municipality and primary care. At the Rehabilitation Unit, we assess and analyze activity ability based on evidence and proven experience and perform actions based on individual needs.

About the Workplace

Currently, there are 9 occupational therapists working at the Rehabilitation Unit. We also have physiotherapists, social workers, speech therapists, dietitians, nursing assistants, and nurses. We often work in teams. You will be welcomed into a positive environment characterized by openness and participation. We operate in all departments of the hospital and also work in outpatient settings. We offer inpatient rehabilitation for stroke and geriatrics and conduct individual and group therapy in various areas.

The clinic has a primary care emergency unit with an acute care unit and three care departments. There is also a dialysis clinic, a medical clinic with day medicine, advanced home care, and the rehabilitation unit.

Västmanlands Hospital Köping excels in stroke care and ranks at the top in national comparisons. Köping Hospital has received awards from Riksstroke multiple times, both as the stroke unit of the year and for outstanding stroke care.

The hospital is very close to the train station, just a three-minute walk away. The commuting options to Köping are good. Train Örebro – Köping 33 min, Västerås – Köping 17 minutes, Eskilstuna – Köping 54 minutes.

For us, it is important that you feel good and enjoy your job, therefore we offer you

  • a tailored introduction program to help you feel secure in your professional role
