The Urology Department (VO) at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) welcomes a new colleague who wants to help develop the future of urology.

Urology is a specialty with comprehensive responsibility for congenital and acquired diseases and injuries of the kidneys, urinary tract, and male genital organs. Common diagnoses include cancer of the kidneys, bladder, and prostate, urinary tract stones, infections, strictures, trauma, as well as benign diseases and dysfunctions of the lower urinary tract. Surgical methods include endoscopic, open, and robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery. Diagnostics and treatment are performed using high-tech equipment such as ultrasound with fusion technology, laser technology, cryotechnology, and extracorporeal shock wave technology (ESWL).

At the Urology Department at Sus, extensive outpatient and inpatient services are provided across all areas of urology, as well as teaching and research. The operations are located in Malmö, Lund, Landskrona, and Trelleborg. Research is conducted in close collaboration with the Department of Translational Medicine at Lund University.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We welcome a specialist physician in urology to the prostate team!

You are expected to have a strong interest in developing prostate cancer care, with a particular focus on diagnostics and treatment, including focal therapy. The work includes outpatient activities, investigations, medical and surgical treatment of both malignant and benign prostate conditions, as well as follow-up and quality work within standardized care pathways (SVF).

You will play an active role in service development and contribute to improving outpatient services and patient flows. An important part of the assignment is participation and driving work in multidisciplinary conferences (MDK) for prostate cancer to strengthen collaboration and care quality. The position may also include investigation and treatment of urethral strictures. Highly specialized urethral stricture surgery is performed in close collaboration with the operation in Landskrona, where parts of the operative activities are located.

The position also includes shared responsibility for benign and malignant urological conditions within the department. Work includes outpatient and inpatient services, as well as consultation and on-call duties. Work may occur in Malmö, Lund, Landskrona, and Trelleborg.

QUALIFICATIONS

You who are applying are a licensed physician authorized to practice in Swedish healthcare. Furthermore, you have specialist competence in urology. Language skills in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s level scale are required. You should have completed or planned a course in clinical supervision.

Furthermore, it is a requirement that you:

• have experience in investigation and surgical treatment within urology
• have a particular interest in prostate cancer and its development

Meritorious:

• experience of modern prostate cancer diagnostics and treatment
• experience of urethral stricture disease and reconstructive surgery
• research experience or a doctoral degree
• interest in service development and leadership

We value good communication and collaboration skills and place great emphasis on personal suitability.

At a university hospital unit, it is required that physicians have pedagogical experience and training. This can be acquired through supervision of, for example, nursing and medical students, as well as physicians in training and as co- or main supervisors of doctoral candidates.
