We will request a criminal record extract before employment can be offered for positions within authority operations, in the area of children and youth.

Are you an experienced social worker with a strong focus on networking and would you like to work in a pleasant team in an organization that has made significant investments in both salary and professional development – then we welcome you to our social services!

Investigation and Intervention Area

The Investigation and Intervention area consists of six investigation and follow-up units that work with all types of issues for ages 0-20. One of the units has a special mandate to handle cases involving honor-related issues and cases according to the Act on Placement of Children in Protected Housing. Approximately 20 social workers, two team leaders, and one unit manager work in the units. Five units are centrally located in Uppsala, and one investigation and follow-up unit works specifically with a so-called socially vulnerable area and has its office in Gottsunda Center. Here you will have the opportunity to work locally close to those we serve but with the advantages of working in a large municipality. Together, we strive for a team-based working method characterized by collegial support, learning, shared responsibility, and a positive internal culture. As an employee, you are our most important asset, and we have therefore invested in higher salaries and clear career paths. Good salary from the start and a plan for your salary and professional development. We want you to be able to grow and stay with us! The Social Administration for Children and Youth has invested in becoming an attractive employer in recent years, which has led to reduced staff turnover and a good working environment.

We are also proud of:

  • Flexible working hours that contribute to job satisfaction and a balance between work and private life.
  • Opportunities for professional development regardless of where you work in the municipality. (As a social worker within investigation and follow-up for children and youth, there is a competence and authority ladder).
  • 3,000 SEK in wellness allowance each year.
  • Opportunity to exchange part of your gross salary for pension savings or to rent IT equipment, office furniture, or a bicycle.
  • Participate in activities such as photography courses, choir singing, jogging tours, and much more through the staff association PULS.

Job Description

A job with us is characterized by a lot of collaboration and great development opportunities. The role includes handling investigations and following up on interventions according to SoL and LVU in a legally secure and efficient manner. Depending on placement, it may also involve handling cases with honor-related issues and cases according to the Act on Placement of Children in Protected Housing. In the investigative work, we work closely with the child and the network around them. Promoting the participation of children and families and increasing the involvement of networks is one of the department's main focus areas and an approach that should permeate everything we do. Everyone who works with us is trained in Signs of Safety. The Social Administration in Uppsala is transitioning to the new Social Services Act (SoL) with the goal of conducting high-quality social work. We meet children and families when they need us the most, and an encounter with us should mean a good reception, clarity, and participation. We aim to live up to the municipality's and the Social Administration's resident promise: “We are here for you.” In Uppsala Municipality, we have invested in specialized interventions in our own right based on the child's needs – we operate our own HVB and have increased our interventions in open care for several years.
