School Nurse for the Medical Services of Student Health

Increased learning - equity - meeting places; three important core values that permeate all work in the schools of Nässjö municipality, a medium-sized municipality with about 30,000 inhabitants in the Småland highlands. To realize this, the municipal council has adopted a strategic and long-term development work for preschool and school in Nässjö municipality.

Within the Department of Children and Education, we consciously and purposefully work to provide every child and student with the tools needed to seek knowledge in life. The goal is for every child and student to develop according to their conditions and feel joy and pride in their successes.

We are looking for someone who wants to work within the medical services of student health and contribute to the health, development, and learning of children and young people. As a school nurse, you are an important part of the school's student health team and work preventively, health-promoting, and supportive to help students achieve educational goals.

The school nurse's assignment is based on the Health and Medical Services Act, the Education Act, and the National Board of Health and Welfare's guidelines for student health. In close collaboration with school management, other professionals in student health, and school staff, you create the best possible conditions for students' health, development, and learning.

You are part of the school's student health team and work cross-professionally with social workers, special educators, psychologists, teachers, career counselors, and principals. Together, you work to remove barriers and strengthen students' opportunities to succeed in school.

Within the medical services of student health, we systematically work with quality development and improvement work. You participate in joint process work with school nurses and school doctors, and we value engagement and the willingness to contribute to the continued development of the organization.

As a school nurse, you have good opportunities to plan and structure your work in collaboration with other professionals at the school.

The position is located at schools outside the central area and includes students from preschool to grade 9.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Your tasks include, among other things:

• Health visits and health conversations
• Vaccinations according to the national vaccination program
• Open reception for students
• Reception together with the school doctor
• Job and age-specific health checks
• Medical support in matters concerning students' working environment
• Preventive and health-promoting work at the individual and group level, especially within mental and social health
• Group interventions and teaching together with social workers, for example regarding health, body, sexuality, and lifestyle
• Collaboration with guardians and external actors and authorities
• Documentation and follow-up in the journal system Prorenata

You also have an important role in the school's work regarding values, bullying, and school absenteeism.

QUALIFICATIONS

Have a specialist nursing education as a district nurse, pediatric nurse, or school nurse

Have good knowledge of children's and young people's health

Have a good ability to work independently and in a structured manner

Enjoy collaboration and have a professional and respectful approach

Previous experience as a school nurse or in student health is an advantage.
