At the Family Home Unit, you will have an exciting, important, and developing job.

We are looking for someone with a commitment to children and young people living in foster care. Children placed in foster homes are one of society's most vulnerable groups. They require extensive support to develop positively. Therefore, good quality in foster care is very important to us, which places demands on effective case management.

Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will be to act as a government-authorized social worker for children and young people placed in foster care. You will work closely with the foster care case managers, who have overall responsibility for the foster homes where the children are placed. The goal is for you, as a social worker, to have a holistic perspective based on the child's needs. You will maintain close contact with the child in the foster home, as well as with biological parents, schools, health care, foster homes, and others.

As an employee in the Family Department, you will be offered a comprehensive introduction program for new employees, which includes basic training in Signs of Safety. New social workers will also be offered the Career Journey.

When you join us, you will receive your own mentor and an introduction to gradually ease into the work. In addition to a unit manager, there are two case supervisors in the unit who will guide and support you in your daily work. Furthermore, you will get to know and work with a wonderful team. We have nice, purpose-built facilities in central Karlstad that make us enjoy our work.

Qualifications

A degree in social work is required. Experience working in social services, with government authority, and foster care is an asset. We value good collaboration skills, decisiveness, creativity, and the ability to work independently when needed. You should be skilled in structuring and coordinating work and expressing yourself well in both spoken and written communication.

A driver's license for a manual transmission vehicle is required. We will request a criminal record check.
