A Job with Room for Growth

A brand new residence is now opening in central Krokom for individuals who struggle to manage their daily lives due to mental disabilities, mental health issues, or other disabilities that require support and services. The new residence has eight apartments, of which three are short-term placements. The unit will implement decisions under both the Social Services Act, SoL, and the Act on Support and Service for Certain Disabled Persons, LSS.

We are now looking for a residential support worker who wants to be part of the team that will start up and develop the new facility, a place where each individual's abilities are recognized, strengthened, and developed.

Welcome to Us!

Do you have a genuine interest in people and are driven to understand where an individual is at and how you and your colleagues can support them towards independence? Then you will not only enjoy this job, but you will also notice that you are making a real difference!

Within the Social Administration, there is the Support and Service operation that works with community residents who have various disabilities. The purpose of the operation is to provide adults, children, and youth with disabilities with individually tailored support and services to enable them to live as independently as possible. Support and Service consists of approximately 135 employees, most of whom work in group homes, service housing, day activities, and personal assistance.

The Social Administration in Krokom consists of about 600 employees, and the breadth of the assignment is extensive. The administration is divided into five operational areas and is present throughout the municipality. Here, we are responsible for providing care and support, assistance and services, as well as health and medical care to the municipality's citizens in need, at all stages of life.

A Day as a Residential Support Worker

We are looking for engaged and driven individuals who, with a safe, coaching, and inclusive approach, create both comfort and security as well as challenges and curious development for the residents to improve their quality of life. We aim to strengthen the individual's ability to manage their daily life independently, both within and outside their own home.

You and your colleagues work based on an individually focused approach according to the individual’s own needs and wishes. The work may involve support in social interaction, understanding and managing emotions, or relating to their environment and societal rules and norms. The work may also include practical tasks that occur in the home environment.

The individuals we work with may have difficulties with insight into their problems, and self-destructive, compulsive, and sometimes outwardly aggressive behaviors may occur. The target group places high demands on competence, engagement, self-awareness, flexibility, reliability, and the collaborative ability of the residential support workers.

Your Competence

We want to assemble a cross-professional team where we create a common foundation, with experiences and knowledge that complement each other. To meet the multifaceted challenges present in the work of a residential support worker, we are looking for someone who has:

  • relevant education such as treatment, support, or social pedagogy, nursing assistant, or behavioral science, or another education that the employer considers relevant
  • documented experience working with individuals in the target group and experience with methods to create a structured environment
  • a valid driver’s license
  • some IT skills for documentation and communication

It is advantageous if you have:

  • training in and experience with conversational methodologies such as motivational interviewing
  • experience in areas such as psychiatry, autism, challenging/problematic/self-destructive behaviors, personality disorders, psychosis, compulsion, and outward aggression.

As a Person:

  • you are secure in yourself, comfortable working with individuals in need of continuity and structure, and can meet clients in various social contexts
  • you have a professional approach with humility, knowledge, and flexibility
  • you have the ability to take initiative and work independently while seeing the team as your greatest resource
  • you are positive and engaged in your tasks, with a strong sense of responsibility
  • you can express yourself both verbally and in writing
  • you appreciate collaboration and enjoy working with people, as you will meet and collaborate with many different professions in your work.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.
