We need to strengthen our maintenance operations with a mechanic for our emergency team within maintenance. SSAB offers you a flexible role where you have the chance to step into a global steel company and be part of the development of fossil-free steel. Location: Oxelösund.

Becoming part of the SSAB family means embarking on a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the future of the planet and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for our societal development and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges that connect our cities, and in tomorrow's cars. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high-strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. We have therefore developed the world's first fossil-free process for steel production and are committed to becoming largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will be important in realizing this goal and thus contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry.

The job as a shift mechanic involves troubleshooting and corrective actions in our facilities. In your role as a mechanic in shift maintenance, you will perform facility-related work in the form of corrective maintenance work within facility maintenance and technology, which means restoring the facility to production status.

The working hours are continuously 3-shift, meaning morning, afternoon, and night followed by a break of 4-5 days.

Your main responsibilities

  • Work together with your colleagues to solve urgent faults and deficiencies in our facilities: Blast Furnace, Coke Plant, Power Station, By-products, and Steel Harbor facilities and cranes.
  • Troubleshooting and urgent repairs are also part of the job.

About you

  • We are looking for someone with a high school diploma in mechanics or equivalent vocational training.
  • You have good technical knowledge and the ability to perform maintenance activities safely and efficiently.
  • You have good knowledge of the maintenance system IFS8.
  • A driver's license (B) is required.
  • You always prioritize safety. For both yourself and your colleagues.
  • You are flexible and meticulous and recognize the importance of the team's collective effort.
  • You are organized and service-oriented and have the desire to learn new things.
  • You find it easy to collaborate with other professional groups and seek help when needed.

At SSAB, diversity and inclusion are part of our culture. We use our values – driving, genuine, and one step ahead – in our daily decision-making, always with the customer in focus. This makes us all team players, with a common goal to improve. When you start at SSAB, you become part of an organization with passionate problem solvers who work together on important challenges. We will support your growth by offering a safe and friendly workplace that contributes to the balance between work and private life.
