Your Responsibilities and Tasks

We need to strengthen the section's work in various areas, and we are now looking for employees who can complement the team based on their experiences and knowledge within all or parts of our areas of responsibility.

With this ad, we are looking for you who want to work with supervision of municipalities' activities according to the Act on Protection Against Accidents (LSO) or the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods (LBE), but also contribute to our other areas of work.

Through our supervisory work, we contribute to the safety of society and citizens by following up, supporting, and developing municipalities' activities. To achieve good effects, we work, among other things, with the situation picture of municipalities' work and results, we interpret the intentions of regulations, take positions, and clarify. The supervision should be learning-oriented and transparent; it is important that we clearly communicate how we work and what assessments we make. Supervision is a significant part of the section's work, but we would also like you to complement the team with your expertise in one of our other areas of responsibility, such as analytical work and strategies for governance and support for municipalities' preventive activities and fire services or support for municipalities' work with personnel supply.

The work often has an investigative character, and decisions are made after analyses together with both colleagues within the authority and others. The tasks include developing working methods, following up and assessing effects, but also being able to communicate assessments and decisions effectively. It is important that you have a good understanding of municipalities' missions and different conditions.

The section is also responsible for a preparedness function that exists to support the command functions of fire services when needed. Depending on your background and interest, it may be relevant for you to join the preparedness function.

Your Knowledge and Competencies

We are looking for someone who has:

• Education as a fire engineer or has other education and competencies that we assess as equivalent for the task.
• Many years of experience from work within municipal fire services or work with these issues at a government authority.
• Good communication skills and the ability to express yourself well in speech and writing.

It is advantageous if you have:

• Knowledge of the municipality's responsibilities according to the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods (2010:1011).
• Management training within municipal fire services.

In all our work, both internally and externally, we must act based on the state value framework. As all employees and leaders with us, you are expected to act according to the authority's approach.

The approaches apply in everyday life, crisis, and war. They should be seen as a whole and build on each other; collaborative – proactive - action-oriented.

About the Employment

We offer you a permanent full-time position that begins with a probationary period.

Your place of employment will be Karlstad or Stockholm. Travel may occur in the employment.

The majority of our positions involve placement in a security class. Usually, Swedish citizenship is required. When placed in a security class, a security review with a background check will be conducted before employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Most employees at the Authority for Civil Defense are assigned to military service.

About Us

In the section for the direction of protection against accidents, we currently have 14 employees, located in Karlstad and Stockholm.

The section coordinates municipalities at the national level and supports with advice and information. We perform supervision according to LSO and LBE, and we support municipalities in their work with personnel supply of part-time firefighters as well as in their work with gender equality and diversity within municipal fire services.

Based on the national risk picture, we provide direction for the authority's national reinforcement resources and coordinate oil spill protection. We pay compensation to municipalities according to LSO and FSO, and coordinate the authority's fire service support preparedness.
