The Technical Service Administration is Trelleborg Municipality's enabling administration. We are a safe, secure, and value-creating resource that works proactively, efficiently, and sustainably together with those who live, work, and spend time in Trelleborg Municipality. The administration's five departments have overall responsibility in various areas for planning, managing, and developing the public space. We do this, for example, by taking care of the municipality's public places, waste management, sewage management, water supply, and infrastructure. We also deliver internal services such as operation and maintenance of the municipality's facilities, cleaning, system management, and IT support.

The Workplace

The Digitalization and IT Department in Trelleborg Municipality consists of the system management and development unit, the IT operations unit, and the service desk unit. In total, we are about 35 employees whose task is to contribute to a well-functioning organization for the best of our operations, and we actively work to be the "best possible digitalization and IT department" every day.

The IT Operations unit currently has 10 employees, three of whom work with the municipality's and companies' infrastructure. The unit is responsible for all IT infrastructure and system operations within the organization and ensures the maintenance of operations, increases availability, and keeps the IT environment secure.

With us, continuous development of work methods, processes, services, and systems is ongoing. To meet our operations' requirements, we work according to the ITIL framework and based on our governance and management model for IT. We work with cutting-edge modern technology and some of the best products on the market.

We now need to strengthen our unit with a focus on our network operations and wired communication. The position is a fixed-term employment for 10 months from the date of employment, with the possibility of extension. For the role of network technician, we are looking for someone who is security-conscious, has a technical interest, and wants to contribute to creating secure and stable IT solutions for Trelleborg Municipality.

Job Responsibilities

Your tasks will consist of managing the IT operations of the municipality's infrastructure in the form of network equipment, communication, and connections to our IT environment together with colleagues. You will also structure, plan, and implement changes. Security awareness is a natural part of the work within IT operations, and as a network technician, you will document your work carefully and consistently.

In your work, you will work with the operation and development of wired networks and fiber communication, lifecycle management of switches – purchasing, configuration, upgrading, and decommissioning, routing and switching in the network infrastructure, monitoring and incident management, documentation in IPAM systems, and working with Linux-based systems within managed IT services.

Qualifications

In this recruitment, we prefer that you who apply are new in your profession, you have post-secondary education in IT or secondary education with a focus on networking along with at least 2 years of professional experience in similar work as a network technician.

The position requires you to have a B driver's license.

For the position, it is advantageous if you have professional experience in configuring a switch, working with Linux, and implementing routing changes. It is also advantageous if you have worked with ITIL and have experience working with changes and projects.

Much of the work in the IT department is project-oriented and takes place in a smaller section where collaboration will be of great importance in the position.

For the position of network technician, you need to have the ability to take your own initiative and responsibility for your area of expertise. Your good communicative and pedagogical skills make it possible for you to explain technical issues clearly and understandably, both to technical and non-technical colleagues. You are happy to share your knowledge and are open to others' ideas. Your role as a network technician means that you work independently, but you will also be part of a team, and your ability to collaborate with colleagues and external suppliers will be important to achieve common goals.

In your work, you will have support from your colleagues and unit manager.
