About the position;

We are looking for a curious school librarian who wants to join us on our development journey! Do you want to contribute and develop our school library into a meeting place for reading and learning? Do you also think it is important to have a school environment that encourages increased community engagement, where adults meet youth in conversation and create sustainable relationships with life and the environment? Then you are the one we are looking for!

Responsibilities;

- Manage the school library and develop the library's educational activities so that it becomes a joyful place where students want to go to read and learn, while keeping up to date with publications and inventory.

- A central task is to continuously inspire our students about books and reading, where spontaneous meetings are very important.

- Take an active part in the school's development work regarding strengthening students' language skills.

- Work to promote reading, which includes holding reading groups, book discussions, and conducting your own lessons based on the themes of the work teams.

- Guide students in information retrieval and source criticism.

- Work to increase student participation regarding the school library.

- You will work closely with teachers and other staff and regularly participate in subject and grade level teams. At the school, we have two major focus areas: developing teaching through language-developing education and strengthening values through relational leadership. We all work towards the goal that our students should reach as far as possible in their learning.

Qualifications;

- Bachelor's degree in library and information science or equivalent

- High digital competence relevant to the tasks

- A strong interest in and solid knowledge of children's and youth literature.

- It is an advantage if you have experience as a school librarian and development work within primary education.

You also take initiative and responsibility for moving work forward, whether you are working alone or together with others. You contribute new ideas and perspectives and often see more than one possible solution in different situations. You develop forms and enhance work to strengthen students' media and information literacy and digital competence. You plan and conduct teaching and ensure that the school library is an active part of the school's development and value work as well as our democratic mission. The school library should be a learning environment that is socially, pedagogically, and physically accessible.
