Male Personal Assistant Full-time – at a Day Activity Center in Gothenburg

We are looking for you, a male assistant, who wants to work closely with a 27-year-old man with multiple disabilities. Your workplace is a day activity center in Gothenburg, where the days are filled with activities, structure, and community. Here, you are not just an assistant – you are an important part of creating a safe, meaningful, and developing everyday life.

What does the job entail?

You will be by his side throughout the day, supporting him in everything from training and swimming to music, woodworking, and other activities. Some days are calm and structured. Others require more energy and creativity.

• work with low-arousal responses, AAC, and clear pedagogical methods
• contribute to an environment that is calm, predictable, and safe

Together with colleagues at the day activity center, you create structure and clarity – because it is in this environment that he can grow.

Who we believe you are

You have a few years of experience in personal assistance or working with people with multiple disabilities. You have encountered autism and intellectual disabilities before, and you understand what it means when the body does not always cooperate.

You are secure in yourself. When the wind blows, you stand firm.
You can be both playful and clear.
You enjoy collaborating but also take personal responsibility.

Communication is done using pictures, so experience with AAC is an advantage. If you have worked with challenging behavior before, that is a plus – the most important thing is that you can remain calm and meet the person behind the behavior.

And you need to have energy. It is an active job that sometimes requires both physical and mental strength.

The practicalities

• Full-time, 40 hours/week
• Weekdays
• Start in the spring with an introduction in the afternoon/evening according to a rolling schedule
• The goal is for you to be fully integrated into the assignment by August
• We are looking for someone who wants to stay – this is not a temporary position

In many assignments, the person receiving assistance is the one leading the work, while others have appointed a deputy leader. Assignments and roles vary depending on the activity and function.

GIL's office provides support in areas such as management, administration, finance, HR, and training. Together, we contribute to making everyday life work for both those receiving assistance and employees within the cooperative.

• Wellness allowance up to 2,500 SEK/year
• Individual salary setting
