Do you want to develop, be part of our wonderful team, and work with the patient in focus? Welcome to us at the Neuro and Stroke Unit in Östersund! Here you will meet patients with stroke, TIA, acute and planned neurology, brain tumors, and general medical conditions. You will encounter many different diagnoses and thus gain broad knowledge. The Neuro and Stroke Unit currently has 18 care places. The unit handles the region's Save the Brain alarms, an emergency care chain staffed by nurses around the clock. The unit is constantly evolving, and in recent years there have been many advancements in research and development, creating improvement opportunities for patients and opportunities for you as an employee to participate in new exciting projects.
As a newly hired nurse in the unit, you will receive the support you need to feel secure in your new workplace so that you can provide patients with good and safe care while increasing your knowledge in the specific field of neurology and stroke. We work closely with you as an individual regarding what you need to feel secure, to meet your development, and to provide you with the conditions to deliver good and safe care. The unit has a present leadership, present doctors, experienced nurse managers, and unit coordinators who all have good knowledge of the unit and can guide new colleagues in the best way. The unit has a high score in recurring employee surveys regarding work environment, participation, and supportive conditions.
In the unit, you work with a digital patient overview via a personal tablet that you carry with you throughout your shift. The tablet gives you a very good overview of your patients, their information and conditions, medication lists, as well as the tasks you and your colleagues need to perform. You will also have access to your email and the unit's team, you can save your own notes and set up your own favorites as support in your daily work.
During weekdays, we have a dedicated nurse manager who focuses on supporting new staff, and we also have a unit coordinator who answers all incoming calls, has a coordinating role regarding care place structure, discharges, examinations, and ordering transports, which allows you as a nurse to have good relief. The unit also has patient-related services that assist with patient transport, supply, and food management.
We work with a wish schedule, in periods of varying 8, 10, and 16 weeks, and we place great value on considering your and your colleagues' individual wishes as much as possible. With us, you work 2 out of 5 weekends. Those who choose to work with us become part of a wonderful group that learns from and encourages each other. As an employer, we can offer our own training facilities with a gym and various group activities. You will also become a member of our staff association, which offers discounts and a variety of fun activities. The unit can also offer professional development within our specific diagnoses, and we have recurring internal training sessions that are very popular.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a nurse with us, you work in a team with many other professions. You are responsible for general and specific nursing as well as the administration of medication and you participate in planning the patient's rehabilitation and length of stay. Training is always provided, and we will check with you how long training you need. The unit has a close collaboration with a mobile stroke team that rehabilitates stroke patients at home after discharge. The unit also includes a nurse-based stroke clinic that works with secondary preventive follow-up after stroke and TIA (transient ischemic attack).
There is an opportunity for observation.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse, enjoy working in a team, and want to develop. Newly graduated or with experience, you are equally welcome to apply.
