We have moved into a state-of-the-art intensive care unit - take the chance to become part of the fantastic team working here! We are looking for you who are a nursing assistant and are interested in joining us. IVA Falun is a general intensive care unit with 8 beds. We care for the hospital's sickest patients, both children and adults. Our ambition is to staff our intensive care unit with even more competent stars to expand our ability to deliver high-quality care to more of our residents in Dalarna. We welcome you who have worked for a few years and are ready for new challenges.

You will receive an individualized structured introduction according to a special introduction program over 8 weeks. The introduction is planned with the department's care developer. You will be part of a foundational year with teaching sessions and reflections several times during the year. During the first half of the year, we will follow up the introduction with regular reflection conversations. After completing the introduction, you will work in a team with experienced colleagues. You will also be offered the opportunity for mentorship.

  • Within Region Dalarna, we have a time valuation model that affects the number of hours worked when you work nights. This means better schedules with the possibility of recovery when working on rotation (day, evening, and night). The employment entails a collective responsibility for staffing every day of the year and every hour of the day. The calculations in the time valuation model are based on a full-time measure of 37 hours/week. The schedule is planned individually based on the needs of the operations.
Nursing Assistant Day/Night, Intensive Care Unit FalunJob Responsibilities

In the intensive care unit, the county's sickest patients are cared for, with failure in vital functions such as breathing, circulation, and consciousness. Many of our patients are unconscious or sedated and need assistance with all care. As a nursing assistant with us, you will be welcomed into a personnel-dense operation with good camaraderie and close teamwork. We work in teams together with nurses, doctors, and physiotherapists. Our patients require constant monitoring and presence of staff. To make this possible, you will work as a nursing assistant with one to two patients, depending on the care needs. You are an important piece in the care of our patients and their relatives. Your workdays will consist of close care and being the patient's safety during serious illness and injury.

Additional InformationQualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • is a trained nursing assistant with a degree from the Health and Care Program or the vocational package Health and Care in adult education
  • has a diploma from the Health and Care College

As a person, you contribute a positive attitude to your work. You have the ability to create a calm and safe environment for our patients in close collaboration with colleagues. The work pace can vary, so you need to be prepared for when plans change and quickly be able to switch up or down. There is much to learn here, so it is important to be curious and always dare to ask if you are unsure. You should function well in a team and have good collaboration skills while also enjoying working independently. For us, it is important to have joy at work, to think innovatively, and to spread positive energy. You take responsibility for your work and are humble enough to step in where needed. You are confident in yourself and want to enjoy your job. We value that you have a burning interest in advanced care as it is the most important role of the nursing assistant in intensive care.

Information about the Job Title

As of July 1, 2023, nursing assistant is a protected job title (https://legitimation.socialstyrelsen.se/underskoterska-blir-en-skyddad-yrkestitel/). This means that you need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant within health and care.

You can apply for the certificate from July 1, 2023. If you do not have a certificate, you can continue to work in health and care, but with a different title than nursing assistant. For those who are offered a job with us in Region Dalarna after July 1, the title in your employment contract will be Care Assistant until you can present your certificate. Those who had a permanent position with the title nursing assistant when the new regulations came into effect on July 1, 2023, can continue to use the nursing assistant title for 10 years. You can retain the title even if you change workplace/employer after July 1. After that, you will need to have a certificate of protected job title to use the title nursing assistant.
