About the job

The orthopedic departments include an acute and an elective unit. In the acute unit, we care for patients with acutely occurring injuries in the musculoskeletal system. This may involve various types of fractures as well as muscle injuries and pain conditions. Most of our patients require surgery, and the focus is on pre- and postoperative care. You will work in a team with nursing assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and doctors. In our elective unit, we care for patients coming for planned surgery. This may involve the need to replace a worn joint or to operate on a fracture that did not require emergency surgery. Here, we work with relatively healthy patients who have short care processes. Collaboration with nursing assistants, doctors, and physiotherapists is crucial for smooth operations. We also have a sluice service for patients undergoing day surgery. This is a day care unit located in the same premises as our elective unit.

During the semester periods, you will have a training position with a base salary as a nurse. You will have 50% study time and work 50%. Weekend and holiday work is included. Outside of semester periods, you will work mixed rotation according to the schedule.

Training position Nurse Elderly Care Orthopedics 17/18 Falun Job responsibilities

As a nurse with us, you will mainly work with the following tasks:

• Overall responsibility for the patient during the care period
• Wound care, pain relief, and mobilization
• Preparation for surgery and follow-up after the procedure
• Medication management
• Patient safety, documentation, and development work in daily routines
• Interprofessional collaboration with nursing assistants, doctors, physiotherapists, etc., as well as with other healthcare units

Requirements:

• You are a licensed nurse and have worked for several years in the profession, preferably in emergency care with a focus on orthopedics and/or elderly care in inpatient care

We want you to feel secure in your role as a nurse. You thrive in a dynamic environment where a lot is happening at the same time, you work in a structured manner, and you have the ability to handle stress. You are communicative and easily collaborate with others.
