Responsibilities

We are now looking for an engaged and proactive school counselor for the Economics Program and Introduction Program at Schillerska Gymnasium. As a school counselor, you will play a key role in supporting our students and creating a safe and stable school environment.

The position involves a varied and stimulating job with students who need your support in their education. In our programs, we strive to create an inspiring teaching environment where students develop knowledge and self-confidence. You represent the psychosocial competence in student health and collaborate closely with other professionals in the student health team consisting of the principal, program coordinator, special educator, school nurse, social educator, and study and career counselor. You also work closely with teaching staff, mentors, guardians, and external actors.

The student health work is conducted in all school environments and is a resource for health-promoting school development. At Schillerska Gymnasium, student health work is something that encompasses and concerns everyone. Learning and health go hand in hand and occur in collaboration between staff, students, and guardians. We base our work on a common value foundation and actively work with the environment, climate, and treatment we want in the school. This includes promoting, preventing, and remedial measures at the individual, group, and organizational levels.

Together with other staff, you contribute to creating trust and security in the school.

Qualifications

You enjoy being in an environment where the education of young people is the focus. You have a good ability to communicate with both young people and colleagues and put the student's learning at the center. We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest in working with young people, has a good ability to build relationships, and has knowledge of how to meet young people. In your daily work, you meet each student's individual needs and conditions. You have relationship-building and supportive conversations regarding the challenges the student faces in order to find helpful strategies moving forward.

You work from a holistic perspective at the individual, group, and organizational levels. You are interested in school development and want to develop learning environments that suit the needs of students.

You are preferably educated as a social worker or have a comparable degree in behavioral science. Previous experience working with young people with problematic school absenteeism, NPF, mental health issues, and other factors that constitute psychosocial barriers is considered meritorious.

As a person, you are trustworthy, secure, flexible, and unpretentious. You have the ability to inspire, motivate, and instill hope, as well as to focus on solutions rather than problems. You possess excellent communication and social skills and adapt your speech and approach according to the recipient and situation. It should be a given for you to work in a team and to collaborate and think together with others regardless of profession. You are accustomed to using the computer as a pedagogical tool and administrative support. You are attentive to students' various needs and functions.

Experience from a counseling position at a middle school or high school is an advantage for the position.

Do not wait to submit your application; the selection and interview process may occur continuously during the application period.
