We offer you a developing position as a nursing leader in an exciting and educational workplace where you can contribute your knowledge for the best interest of the child, both strategically and operationally.
Job Responsibilities
The children's emergency department at Sachsska Children's and Youth Hospital is one of the largest emergency departments for children in the country, with approximately 25,000 visits per year. Here, we take care of acutely ill children and adolescents aged 0-18 with medical issues, as well as those aged 0-15 with minor surgical/orthopedic injuries. You have delegated responsibility for the development of the clinical care area in collaboration with the unit manager and interprofessional teams both within and outside the area of operation. This means you have an in-depth responsibility to independently lead, coordinate, and develop care within your care area. In daily operations, you are a role model and support for the entire care team, focusing on quality and patient flow. You also contribute to the introduction, guidance, and education of nursing staff. You develop the organization's guidelines and working methods in nursing within your care area based on current research and clinical evidence. You are also responsible for the continuous updating of guidelines within your area of responsibility in one of the areas below.

The Role of the Nursing Leader
The nursing leader holds a supervisory role with responsibility for leading and developing work within the nursing area in close collaboration with the unit manager. The role includes active engagement in nursing development, systematic improvement work, patient safety, and workplace environment issues.
The work is based on the core competencies of the specialist nurse and aims to ensure evidence-based, person-centered, and safe care. By applying professional leadership, the nursing leader contributes to a care culture that promotes learning, quality, and sustainable development within the care operations.
As a nursing leader, you work according to step 5 in the competence ladder for nurses/specialist nurses in Region Stockholm, with 80% clinical work and 20% clinical nursing development in your care area. The clinical development time may vary based on needs and ongoing projects. During summer months and major holidays, scheduling is done according to local routines, and the clinical development time is excluded.
Qualifications
Being a Nursing Leader means you have real and formal competence according to step 5 in the competence ladder within Region Stockholm. Formal competence means you meet one of the following:
- Licensed nurse with a master's degree
- Specialist nurse in pediatrics
And:
- Clinical experience in relevant specialty/emergency care (at least 5 years)
- Higher education pedagogy for teachers and supervisors in workplace-based education (HPK), 7.5 higher education credits
Personal Attributes
To succeed in the role of nursing leader, you are pedagogical and driven by seeing your colleagues develop. You have good structure in your daily work and the ability to drive projects forward. Furthermore, you are also proactive as you are expected to come up with improvement suggestions and ideas regarding department development. It is important that you also see the whole picture and take into account the larger perspective. You understand your role but prioritize the best interests of the entire organization in your actions and decisions.
