Accounting Economist at the Chemical Agency

The Chemical Agency is a government authority tasked with reducing the risks of harm to people and the environment from chemicals. The Secretariat for Administrative Support is responsible for administrative support, driving and developing proposals for policies, strategies, and guidelines within the Secretariat's area of responsibility. The Secretariat is responsible for finance, registration, archives, and security functions.

The Secretariat initiates the development of common administrative support systems regarding financial management, investments, reception, and janitorial services. In 2025, we entered into the State Service Center's accounting service. As a full customer of SSC, they will manage the operation of the financial system, and the authority will no longer need to have its own operation with associated maintenance and upgrades.

The finance function within the Secretariat provides support to management and assists departments and secretariats in financial matters. The finance function is also responsible for overall business planning and business development within its area of responsibility. The Secretariat has received expanded responsibilities, and we therefore need to expand with an additional accounting economist.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The main job responsibilities within the Finance Function will be:

• To develop and document routines
• To be responsible for certain processes within the accounting area, such as project accounting
• To perform reconciliations
• To provide advisory services within the organization regarding your area of work
• To follow up on ongoing accounting work

The work is carried out in close collaboration with other employees within the Finance Function.

Main responsibilities include bookkeeping, invoicing, monitoring supplier invoices, financial follow-up, participating in the preparation of materials for financial statements and annual reports, financial management, and development. You will also be the link between the business and the State Service Center.

QUALIFICATIONS

As a person, you are structured and meticulous. You work independently and are proactive, and you are happy to share your knowledge. You have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish. We place great importance on your personal qualities.

You have:

• experience in government accounting
• experience working in a finance function
• a university or college degree in business administration, preferably with a focus on accounting, or long-term practical experience that the employer assesses as equivalent

You should have a structured and meticulous working style and good collaboration and communication skills.

It is an advantage if you have:

• experience with the financial system Agresso/Milestone
• experience with the government reporting system HERMES.
