Västernorrland Regiment with Jämtland Field Ranger Corps, I 21, has a growing operation in Östersund, Sollefteå, and Härnösand. Here you have the opportunity to work in a dedicated team where you can develop and contribute to the regiment's, the Armed Forces', and allies' ability to train and enhance their capabilities.

Training and Firing Range Department

The department consists of Training and Firing Ranges in Östersund, Sollefteå, and Härnösand, responsible for the development and maintenance of Dagsådalens, Tjärnmyrans, Härnöns, and Skärsvikens training and firing ranges, as well as Grytans training field with camp.

Main Responsibilities

The tasks are occasionally varied. As a serviceman, you primarily work in Östersund, both at Dagsådalens firing range and Grytans training field. Working at a shooting/training field involves, among other things, responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the shooting/training field to enable the Armed Forces' units and allies to conduct training activities. You will do this by taking care of targets, vehicles, and other equipment. You will also support operations in Grytans camp.

The position may require work at all of I 21's training and firing ranges as needed. There will be elements of solitary work and duty during evenings and weekends.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • High school education
  • Driving license class B

Personal Attributes

You should have a strong sense of service and good skills in guest reception, good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written. You have the ability to adapt to varying tasks and at a varying pace. You have good physical condition and are prepared for physically demanding work.

DESIRABLE

  • Good computer skills, primarily MS Office
  • Driving license class BE, C, or CE
  • Military driver's license: Basic, bv 206-208, wheel loader or truck
  • Experience with drones, UAV/UAS
  • Certificates (training) wheel loader, forklift, or motor/brush cutter
  • Explosive ordnance disposal training
  • Completed military service or basic military training (GMU)

Employment form: Permanent, the Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those who are not already employed by the authority.

In 2022, Västernorrland Regiment with Jämtland Field Ranger Corps, I 21 was re-established. A new regiment with centuries-old traditions in Västernorrland and Jämtland. With us, you have the opportunity to be part of something unique, the re-establishment of a regiment in Lower Norrland.

I 21 currently operates in Sollefteå, Östersund, and Härnösand and is responsible for the Lower Norrland Garrison. In Sollefteå, there is the Regimental Staff (with personnel in both Sollefteå and Östersund) and Ångermanland Infantry Battalion. In Östersund, there is the Jämtland Field Ranger Corps. Additionally, there is a Garrison Support Unit, Defense Health, and Logistics Unit operating in Sollefteå, Östersund, and Härnösand.

At Ångermanland Infantry Battalion and Jämtland Field Ranger Corps, we train conscript soldiers for service in the new modern infantry under our proud motto “From mountains to sea, for the defense of Lower Norrland.”
