Healthcare Assistant for Surgery and Urology, Inpatient Care

Welcome to the Surgery and Urology Department A4.

Our mission is to provide the population and visitors of Gotland with good and safe surgical and urological inpatient care. We also care for patients with needs for inpatient care for ear/nose/throat diseases, after trauma, and for eye care.

The department has 18 beds for patients seeking acute care as well as beds for planned examinations and surgeries.

Are you a healthcare assistant looking to gain comprehensive knowledge in emergency care and surgery? Do you want to work in a team with varied tasks and a dynamic work pace?

Nursing leaders/surgical nurses are present on the ward during weekdays to lead and support throughout the day.

Your Responsibilities

You will work closely with nurses and patients, responsibly and evidence-based, adhering to our routines. Together, you will identify risks, assess, intervene, and evaluate the patient's various care needs.

Common tasks include pre- and post-operative care, which involves monitoring vital parameters (NEWS), blood sugar checks, fluid and nutrition tracking, sampling, wound and stoma care, drainage management, catheter insertion, and more.

You will support patients in their daily care, such as personal hygiene, dressing and undressing, and ensuring they feel safe and well-prepared for examinations and surgeries. You play a central role in creating a good care environment. You will document your work in the TakeCare journal system. You will also contribute to the smooth operation of the department by restocking supplies, making beds, and serving meals.

Who Are You?

We are looking for someone with a certified healthcare assistant education. Since the title of healthcare assistant is protected, you need to provide a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare, or alternatively a work certificate that allows you to use the title until June 30, 2033.

Experience in emergency or surgical care is an advantage.

Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, is important for your patient interactions and collaboration within the department.

As teamwork is a crucial part of your job, you have a good ability to collaborate with others by being attentive and adapting to the situation's demands. You are an engaged and flexible person who, together with your colleagues, contributes to the development of the organization and creates a pleasant working environment.

The position is suitable for both newly graduated healthcare assistants and those with prior experience. Personal suitability, such as good collaboration skills and flexibility, is highly valued.

We offer you an individually tailored onboarding process.

Personal suitability is highly prioritized during hiring.

Before a hiring decision, a background check will be conducted through an extract from the criminal record.
