Licensed Psychologist for Defense Health in Gotland

The Swedish Armed Forces is growing and developing rapidly. As part of this process, we are looking for an additional licensed psychologist for our Defense Health in Gotland who can help develop the strategy and goals of Gotland's regiment to maintain a healthy organization now and over time.

Defense Health

Within Defense Health, we work in health-promoting, preventive, and post-care multidisciplinary teams where everyone's knowledge and experience are important for achieving good results. One of our goals is to keep the need for post-care (treatment and rehabilitation) at a low level through health-promoting and preventive measures. Our mission is to provide free health care to conscripts, cadets, and home guard personnel during operations. In addition, we operate as an occupational health service within Gotland's garrison, where we offer various services to the unit.

Main Responsibilities

As a psychologist in the Armed Forces' occupational health service, you will primarily work with services related to conscript training, but also with treatment measures during the rehabilitation of employed personnel. This mainly involves individual-level services with an emphasis on assessment and treatment measures and collaboration with commanders, but there are also some educational initiatives at the group level. In the team, we constantly work to develop our operations and support each other towards set goals.

In addition to the team at Defense Health, you will be part of a psychosocial team connected to conscript training, where you will participate alongside a conscription consultant and a field priest. You will support each other in work that includes both health-promoting, preventive, and post-care levels. You will also work closely with our other psychologist and occasionally carry out initiatives together.

Common Tasks

  • Assess, diagnose, and together with a doctor decide whether a conscript can fulfill their military service.
  • Support conscripts with limited treatment measures.
  • Consult and collaborate with commanders and managers with personnel responsibility.
  • Assessment and advice related to employed personnel.
  • Treatment and collaboration during the rehabilitation of employed personnel.
  • Support conversations with employees during, for example, investigations of unwanted behavior.
  • Educational initiatives for conscripts and commanders related to how mental health can be optimized.

May include

  • In-depth training on stress for military healthcare providers - reactions and management.
  • Educational initiatives to increase understanding of the mental impact before and after international military operations (IMI). Follow-up with groups after operations.
  • Other educational initiatives individually or together with other personnel categories.
  • Group development initiatives together with a psychologist colleague.

Qualifications

  • Psychology program 300 credits and PTP service after graduation as a licensed psychologist.
  • At least three years of experience as a licensed psychologist.

MERITORIOUS

  • CBT orientation.
  • Competence and experience in ACT.
  • Work or engagement within any of the Total Defense's operational areas.
  • Completed military service.

  • Employment form: permanent. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period.

  • Work location: Tofta. Travel may occur in the service. Service at another location may occur.

  • Start date: 2026-08-12 or by agreement.

In addition to checking the diploma, checks will be conducted by the National Board of Health and Welfare and the Health and Social Care Inspectorate. A security clearance will be conducted.
