Within the thoracic care unit (VE), heart, lung, and chest surgery is performed on adults. We also provide nationally specialized care for heart and lung transplants as well as corrective surgery for adults with congenital heart defects (GUCH). In Region Skåne, we are an ECMO/ECLS center for both heart and lung failure. To support our mission, we also have a complete intensive care unit under our own management.

VE thorax is Sweden's largest and most comprehensive heart and lung surgical center. The department has about 20 anesthesiologists, 20 surgeons, and 10 perfusionists.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a specialist physician, you will work as an anesthesiologist in heart and lung surgery as well as related intensive care. Your duties include anesthesia, intensive care, and management of patients requiring mechanical organ support, among other tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS

You who are applying are a licensed physician with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare. Furthermore, you have specialist competence in anesthesia and intensive care. Language skills in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale are required. You should have completed or planned a course in clinical supervision. Experience in thoracic anesthesia and intensive care is an advantage. In your application, you should also outline your skills in ultrasound, including echocardiography, as well as completed relevant training in the field.

As a person, you have a professional demeanor and work solution-focused. We see that you have good communicative and empathetic abilities as a positive interaction with patients and colleagues is important to us. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

At a university hospital unit, it is required that physicians have pedagogical experience and education. This can be acquired through supervision of, for example, nursing and medical students as well as physicians in training and as co- or main supervisors of doctoral candidates. Clearly describe in your application the pedagogical courses you have completed or planned, experience in supervision, and teaching at various levels.
