We are looking for two church caretakers to join our team at the Church of Sweden in Kumla, both full-time positions, one of which will be the operational coordinator for the group as our current coordinator is retiring this summer. We seek someone with experience working as a church caretaker in the Church of Sweden and/or similar positions with equivalent responsibilities. This is a distinctly service-oriented profession with weekend duties every other weekend, varied tasks with service across the entire parish. Together with the rest of the team, you will be six people.

About the positions

As the coordinator for the group, you will be responsible for scheduling, planning, and distributing tasks on an ongoing and regular basis in collaboration with the unit manager, the team, and those we serve. You will also plan for substitute staffing, approve absences, and time reports. The rest of the time, you will work as a church caretaker alongside the team.

As a church caretaker, you provide service and support in both external and internal contexts. Cleaning and preparing premises is the primary and recurring part of your work, along with basic property maintenance. You participate in practical preparations for church ceremonies such as baptisms, funerals, weddings, and services/masses of all kinds, and also participate during these events. You manage sound and lighting, arrange furniture, prepare for various gatherings in parish activities, and maintain cleanliness in our operational facilities. We also host concerts and rent out facilities for other events where we are expected to provide support and service.

We need to strengthen our knowledge of church textiles and furnishings, and it is considered an asset if you have that experience from previous jobs.

Who are you?

You have at least three years of high school education and five or more years of work experience. You are proficient in the Swedish language, both spoken and written, and it is an asset if you have other language skills.

You are willing to contribute ideas and are ready to pitch in where needed. As a person, you are calm, stable, secure, and flexible; you have good physical fitness as the job requires strength and stamina. You have experience in interacting with people during life's major events, in joy and in sorrow, at the beginning and end of life. You are a member of and share the values of the Church of Sweden.

You can handle various digital tools without problems; we work a lot with Teams, and you need to be able to manage Word and Excel. We also use Aveny and Kyrksam as well as FLEX HRM Time and Travel and offer internal training in these systems. A driving license and access to a personal vehicle are required. You will need to provide a criminal record extract before employment.

We offer a position as a coordinator that also includes the church caretaker role and a dedicated position as a church caretaker. Both positions are full-time, and a probationary period may apply. We have flexible working hours, offer wellness benefits, and have an agreement with Capio Läkargruppen. Start date by agreement. You will be based in our facilities in Kumla.
