Licensed Occupational Therapist Wanted for Temporary Position

We are looking for a licensed occupational therapist for a longer temporary position at our rehabilitation unit at the Hand and Plastic Surgery Clinic in Umeå.

The Hand and Plastic Surgery Clinic at Norrland University Hospital conducts highly specialized hand and plastic surgery for patients in the northern region. The clinic also provides nationally specialized care in hand surgery concerning plexus brachialis injuries and for dysmelia. Approximately 100 employees from various professions work at the clinic. We have a care department, a reception, an operating department, a rehabilitation department, and a department for medical documentation.

Currently, five physiotherapists and six occupational therapists work at the rehabilitation unit of the hand and plastic surgeon. Patients from the entire northern region with injuries, diseases, or pain problems in the upper extremity are assessed and treated at the unit. Treatment and rehabilitation at the rehab unit and in the plexus team are primarily conducted in outpatient care with a focus on the patient's needs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As an occupational therapist with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that makes people feel secure.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team focused on a sustainable return to work and employment. You will meet patients both after surgical procedures and when conservative treatment is needed. Your work encompasses the entire rehabilitation process from assessment and planning to implementation and systematic evaluation of interventions and results.

Job responsibilities include, among other things, the manufacture of orthoses tailored to the patient's individual needs and medical guidelines. You will also work with practical training in meaningful activities, where you and the patient set and work towards individual goals, as well as treatment of scars and edema. Patient contact occurs both physically at the clinic and digitally via telemedicine, creating good conditions for a flexible and accessible rehabilitation process.

We will develop an individual introduction plan together with you so that you can feel that you have a secure start and a good opportunity to learn the work with us.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed occupational therapist with experience working with patients who have injuries or diseases in the arm and hand and are comfortable training in activities for a sustainable return to work, housing, and leisure. You have experience working in teams and apply a client-centered approach in your daily work. It is advantageous if you have experience in manufacturing orthoses and if you have previously worked with remote care.

As a person, you have a natural drive and are eager to take your own initiatives to create the best possible care for patients. You are flexible and see opportunities in change while maintaining a secure and stable presence in the team. You highly value collaboration and contribute both care and commitment to a positive work environment.
