Job Responsibilities

In your role as a sports groundkeeper, you will be responsible, together with your colleagues, for maintaining our football pitches in the Eastern section of Malmö. You will work towards grassroots sports and ensure that the grass on the facilities is in excellent condition. You need to have good knowledge of grass development, machinery, and maintenance. In your role as a sports groundkeeper, you will work on providing the football pitches, which involves dressing, verticutting, sowing, fertilizing, turfing, driving, aerating, watering, and draining. The role also involves working administratively to establish a maintenance plan for soil chemistry, soil science, and plant science to be implemented on our football pitches. You will handle procurement and purchasing of consumables, machinery, tools, tractors, and maintain these. Working hours are primarily scheduled during the day, but evening and weekend work may occur during events.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a high school diploma or other education and/or experience that the employer deems equivalent. You have previously worked with the maintenance of football pitches or golf courses. You also have training in green space management, such as greenkeeping or groundsman. It is also desirable that you have previously worked with community life. A driving license for a manual transmission vehicle is a requirement. Furthermore, we expect you to have basic IT skills and good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

To succeed in this role, we believe you are a service-minded person, meticulous, and have an eye for detail. Since you will have a lot of contact with customers in the role of sports groundkeeper, we see that you have a good demeanor and a strong ability to collaborate. As a person, you are flexible and can easily adapt to new circumstances.

About the Workplace

The Malmö Unit belongs to the operations department of the leisure administration and includes six sections with a total of about 80 employees and six section managers. The Malmö Unit works to meet the residents of Malmö in the same way and with the same service throughout the city. We collaborate with various actors such as community organizations, the events department, and the booking function with the goal of delivering high-quality service to everyone who uses or visits the leisure administration's facilities. We are now looking for a sports groundkeeper focused on maintenance, based at Rosengårds IP.
