Residential Support Worker for Group Home for Individuals with Disabilities
The group homes Ådala and Ekeby 13 provide housing and daily activities for individuals with disabilities. Here, we care for a handful of people with developmental disabilities. Our goal is to provide each person with individualized support based on their needs; to promote independence, participation, and self-determination, and to provide support that enables good living conditions. We are now looking for more dedicated colleagues who want to be a part of our organization!
The Role
As a residential support worker, you support our residents through security and continuity in care. You assist our residents with everything they need in daily life, such as planning and carrying out all household tasks, leisure activities, social contacts, hygiene support, use of assistive devices, and medication management. You help create a meaningful existence based on individual conditions and wishes. You strengthen and enable the residents' abilities, inspire and motivate them to participate, and contribute to an active life in community with others, based on each individual's needs. We work with the aim that the individuals we support should be as independent, involved, and have as much influence over their lives as their disabilities allow.
Daily tasks include planning, reporting, and documentation according to applicable legislation. You collaborate with colleagues in the unit and also with other units and organizations, and contribute to constantly improving and developing the operations. In the workgroups, there is a support educator and a group leader who can provide you with support and guidance in your work.
Who are you?
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with individuals with developmental disabilities, sees the whole picture in care, and wants to make a difference for the people you support.
You have an interest and commitment to the target group, are professional, empathetic, and patient, and have the ability to inspire and motivate. You find it easy to make contacts and build trust, and you are attentive and flexible. You are fearless, structured, solution-oriented, and follow through on decisions made. You take responsibility for your work and understand that adherence to routines and collaboration is important for our residents to have the opportunity for a good quality of life. You also find it easy to collaborate with colleagues.
To thrive in this role, we see that you have experience and familiarity with independently addressing behaviors that the general public and environment may perceive as problematic and challenging, based on work methods and routines.
It is important that our employees are interested in developing the operations for the better with good ideas and collaboration. We expect you to contribute with your engagement, knowledge, and experience. We want our residents' needs to be in focus and that you are curious about how good care is shaped in collaboration with relatives.
