Sports Field Caretaker with a Focus on Turf Management

Job Responsibilities

In your role as a sports field caretaker, you will be responsible together with your colleagues for maintaining our football fields in the Eastern section of Malmö. You will work towards grassroots sports and ensure that the grass on the facilities is in excellent condition. You need to have good knowledge of grass development, machinery, and maintenance. In your role as a sports field caretaker, you will work to provide the football fields, which means performing topdressing, verticutting, seeding, fertilizing, turfing, driving and aerating, watering, and draining. The role also involves working administratively to establish a maintenance plan for soil chemistry, soil science, and plant science to be carried out on our football fields. You will handle procurement and purchasing of consumables, machinery, tools, tractors, and maintain these. Working hours are primarily scheduled during the day, but evening and weekend work may occur during events.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has a high school diploma or other education and/or experience that the employer considers equivalent. You have previously worked with the maintenance of football fields or golf courses. You also have training in green space maintenance, such as greenkeeping or groundsman. It is also desirable that you have previously worked with community life. A B driver's license for a manual transmission vehicle is a requirement. Furthermore, we see that you have basic IT skills and good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

About the Workplace

The Malmö Unit belongs to the operations department of the leisure administration and includes six sections with a total of about 80 employees and six section managers. The Malmö Unit works to meet the residents of Malmö in the same way and with the same service throughout the city. We collaborate with various actors such as community life, the events department, and the booking function with the goal of delivering high-quality service to all who use or visit the leisure administration's facilities. For the Malmö unit, located in the eastern operations section, we are now looking for a sports field caretaker focused on turf management based at Rosengårds IP.
