The Unit for Academic Language (ASK) is a university-wide, bilingual – Swedish and English – unit with the mission to strengthen the development of academic language and writing. Currently, xx language advisors work at the unit to plan, develop, and implement educational initiatives for both students and staff regarding reading, writing, and speaking in academic contexts. We are now looking for a language advisor focused on academic language and writing in Swedish and English.
Responsibilities
As a language advisor, you will work with language and writing development initiatives for both students and staff, both on campus and through digital tools. The work is close to students and operations and is characterized by development and collaboration. You will work both independently and together with colleagues, as well as in dialogue with teachers and other staff at the university.
The position of language advisor includes mentoring, teaching, and leading activities for the university's students and staff. The work also involves participating in the production, maintenance, and some administration of mentoring and teaching materials. As a language advisor, you will also participate in collegial professional development in areas related to academic language and writing.
Qualifications
For the position, the following requirements apply:
- a relevant advanced degree
- documented teaching experience relevant to the position
- good communication skills in English and Swedish, both spoken and written.
For the position, it is advantageous to have:
- experience in mentoring in academic language and writing
- other higher education studies that the employer deems relevant
Personal suitability – regarding, among other things, good judgment in professional matters, the ability to perform the tasks included in the position, as well as the ability to collaborate and contribute to the development of the operation – will be a factor considered in the assessment of the applicant, which is done through, among other things, reference checks. A holistic assessment will determine who is considered to have the best overall conditions to both carry out the tasks and complement the unit's overall competence.
Employment
Employment type: Temporary position until 2025-12-31 with the possibility of extension.
Scope: 75–100 %.
