Teaching Assistant for Adapted Upper Secondary School in Gothenburg

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for someone who wants to be part of a new adapted upper secondary school in Gothenburg. The adapted upper secondary school is its own school form with its own curricula. Our important school operations are growing, and last autumn we started a new unit for students at an early developmental level within the individual program. The students are at different developmental levels and have an intellectual disability, sometimes with additional disabilities such as autism, mobility impairments, or visual impairments. We are now looking for a competent and committed teaching assistant who can help our students thrive, develop, and achieve the goals of education. Your work will contribute to the school's success in its educational mission and prepare students for adult life.

Our school is located in a quiet and nature-close area at Stora Holm on Hisingen. Nature and the beautiful surroundings are an obvious part of the teaching. For those who travel by public transport, the nearest bus stop is a couple of minutes away. The school currently has 30 students divided into five groups. In the autumn, the operation will expand further with 2 to 3 new classes.

Your role as a teaching assistant involves creating clarity, structure, and security throughout the school day. You will provide support to students both individually and in groups, in both learning and care. The goal of your work is to enable students to benefit from the teaching in the best way possible. To succeed in your role, a high degree of professionalism in your approach is required, and you must have the ability to adapt your working methods to the students' individual needs, conditions, and daily forms. If you have special knowledge in any artistic area, you will have good opportunities to use this in various learning situations.

You will be part of a work team where you work closely in collegial collaboration with both teachers, other teaching assistants, and student health personnel. QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements for at least one year of experience working with youth or children in an adapted school, or several years of relevant experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or multiple disabilities. Experience working with low-affect responses, clear pedagogical approaches, and AAC is required. You also have a relevant basic education, such as teaching assistant, nursing assistant, support assistant, or similar.

You have good physical fitness and mobility, the ability to handle heavy lifting, and participate in students' activities. You have good knowledge of the Swedish language, especially oral communication.

If you have further education, such as support pedagogy or activation pedagogy, it is particularly meritorious. Digital competence beyond the basic level is also meritorious. A B driver's license is an advantage.

As a person, you are stable and secure, professional in your role. You are attentive and have a very good ability to collaborate and create good relationships. You are flexible and responsive to the students' individual conditions.

OTHER
