The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is an integrated department between Gothenburg University and Chalmers University of Technology, located on the Johanneberg and Lindholmen campuses in Gothenburg. The department's activities include high-quality research, education, and application in areas such as AI & machine learning, software & hardware engineering, computer science, security, network & systems. The organization consists of nearly 300 employees with a high international composition from 50 different countries.

The administrative operations of the department are shared between Chalmers and Gothenburg University. We meet daily with students, teachers, and other employees to provide appropriate and professional service. The department consists of 29 employees who provide competent support in finance, HR, communication, student guidance, educational administration, internal service, etc. As a student advisor, you are part of the operational support and are part of an educational administrative team consisting of six colleagues.

We are now expanding the student advisory function with an additional position.

As a student advisor, you guide and support admitted and prospective students through guidance conversations, study planning, and follow-up. Your tasks also include informing about what studies in the IT field entail and about the various subjects' course offerings and study paths. Contact occurs via reception, digitally, by phone, and email. The work includes both individual conversations and various types of group initiatives. We work according to the Policy for Study and Career Advisors at Gothenburg University, which is based on the premise that study and career guidance is a pedagogical task and forms part of the educational process.

The role also includes handling and being a support to the department's study administration in admissions and other student matters, as well as participating in course evaluations. As a student advisor, you also work closely with the educational and program managers at the department. The role also includes being part of the introduction and marketing work of the department's programs and courses.

Another task for our new student advisor will be to work with the department's strategy for internationalization by developing, implementing, and administering international collaborations, student exchanges, and other activities to increase mobility among students and staff. The internationalization work is carried out in close collaboration with other student advisors, educational administrators, and management functions.

The tasks may vary as needed.
