Boverket is looking for a researcher for the Housing Unit

Boverket is the national authority for planning, construction, and housing. We aim to contribute to a sustainable society with good housing in vibrant environments. The focus is on issues related to the built environment, resource management of land and water areas, physical planning, construction, and management of buildings, housing, and housing finance. Since July 2025, Boverket is also the preparedness authority within the preparedness sector for industry, construction, and trade.

Boverket has its headquarters located in Karlskrona, with a smaller office in Malmö. Today, about 240 people work at the agency, including architects, civil engineers, economists, lawyers, communicators, planners, and social scientists.

The Housing Unit currently consists of 25 employees. Our focus is to monitor, describe, and analyze the development of the housing market. We develop methods, provide guidance, and showcase good examples within our core areas of housing supply, housing social issues, and within the field of architecture and designed living environments. In recent years, we have had a particular focus on equal living conditions, segregation, and social exclusion.

Your role with us

As a researcher in the Housing Unit, your task is to analyze the housing and real estate market using economic methods, work with statistics, data processing, and quantitative data analysis. You will have independent responsibility in projects and in handling consultations related to the subject area. You will work in various types of investigations with a housing market perspective or where an economic perspective is needed. It may also be relevant to work as a project manager and drive smaller projects, as well as contribute to assignments and investigations and other ongoing work.

Your competence profile

You have experience from qualified investigative and analytical work within the housing or real estate market. You have an academic background in economics, real estate economics, or another relevant academic education for the position.

It is advantageous if you have competence in investigative methodology.

Relevant work experience from public administration or experience in working with impact assessments is desirable, but not a requirement.

You have a distinctly analytical ability. Since the work often takes place in groups, it is important that you are attentive, easy to collaborate with, but also good at taking your own initiatives. You are a curious and interested person who is driven to delve into new areas and assignments, who can see both details and the big picture, and who enjoys working on various projects and in different roles. You express yourself well and pedagogically in both spoken and written Swedish. You can easily switch between different issues and can work independently and in a structured manner to achieve set goals according to the timeline.

Boverket is an authority that ultimately works on behalf of the citizens. We are looking for someone who has respect and humility for the role of a civil servant and a strong interest in societal issues.

The employment

The position is a fixed-term employment for 2026 at the headquarters in Karlskrona. Start date by agreement, but our hope is that our new researcher can start as soon as possible, the position is filled due to a colleague going on leave. At Boverket's new headquarters (Boverket's new office (https://www.boverket.se/sv/om-boverket/boverkets-uppdrag/boverkets-nya-kontor/)), you will work in a state-of-the-art workplace that promotes an activity-based working method, community, and a good working environment. At Boverket, there is also the opportunity for you as an employee to enter into an agreement to work remotely up to 49% of the working time, when and provided that the tasks allow it.
