On the old herring island Klädesholmen outside Tjörn lies Salt & Sill, surrounded by Bohuslän's salty cliffs and skerries. We are Sweden's first floating hotel and one of the west coast's most appreciated archipelago destinations, with a hotel, conference facilities, and a restaurant – right by the dock.

Our business has been operated under the current management since the early 2000s and is characterized by a strong passion for food, people, and hospitality. The proximity to the sea and local ingredients permeates both our menus and guest experiences. We are a seasonal business with a high pace during parts of the year, where collaboration, responsibility, and commitment are crucial for the whole.

About the position

We are now looking for a sous chef for the kitchen at Salt & Sill for the period from May to September. The role is an important part of the daily operations and involves close collaboration with the head chef and other members of the kitchen team. Working hours are scheduled for weekdays and weekends, during the day and evening.

This is how we usually describe the position

Food has always been a central part of Salt & Sill and a strong reason why many guests return to us. As a sous chef, you will help drive a creative kitchen that continuously develops menus and working methods with a focus on seasonality, local ingredients, and high quality. The role combines operational work in the kitchen with a clear responsibility for structure, leadership, and quality in daily operations.

Your responsibilities in the role

In this role, you assist the head chef in planning and organizing kitchen operations to ensure efficient and well-functioning operations. You actively participate in cooking and are responsible for ensuring that dishes maintain a high level in terms of taste, presentation, and execution. You lead and support the kitchen team in daily work, provide guidance and feedback, and contribute to a safe and professional work environment. Your responsibilities also include managing inventory and purchasing, as well as ensuring that the kitchen complies with applicable hygiene and food safety requirements.

Who we believe you are

We believe you have several years of experience as a chef in à la carte kitchens and at least two years of experience in a similar leadership role, such as sous chef. You have a strong interest in cooking and a creative approach to ingredients, techniques, and flavors. As a leader, you are clear, confident, and communicative, with the ability to inspire and create engagement in your team. You work in a structured manner, take responsibility for the whole, and thrive in an environment where the pace can be high at times. You have good knowledge of food safety and hygiene, as well as basic computer skills. You speak Swedish and English fluently, both orally and in writing.
