Acute geriatric observation unit. Care for our frail elderly at Södersjukhuset. Södersjukhuset has opened a geriatric assessment unit (G-CDU, Geriatric Clinical Decision Unit) starting in the autumn of 2025. Our focus includes a higher degree of care alongside ongoing investigations in a calmer environment than what is possible in the emergency department.

The G-CDU unit is part of the acute flow and is organizationally placed within Internal Medicine. The unit will receive patients from all somatic specialties, both from SÖS emergency department and directly from home, geriatrics, ASIH, or nursing homes by agreement.

Job Description

The G-CDU will be open from Sunday evening (21:00) to Friday afternoon (16:00). We will offer rapid investigation and treatment and prepare patients for the next step. Within 12-24 hours, the patient should either be able to be discharged home again, transferred to another specialty within SöS, or to another healthcare provider. Close collaboration with healthcare neighbors within the region will therefore be a significant and important part of achieving an efficient and rapid care chain.

We are now looking for you who are a nursing assistant, preferably with training in elderly care. We strive for a team-based approach together - with and for the patient. To meet the challenges of future healthcare, we continuously work to develop our operations, with a focus on the patient and for safe care of high quality. Together in the team, you will work for high-quality care and the development of flows and working methods. This means that you as a nursing assistant will have great opportunities to participate/drive/contribute to the improvement work of the organization.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has worked in patient-centered care for patients with various medical conditions. You have an easy time prioritizing and re-prioritizing your tasks and are prepared for the unexpected. We place great emphasis on personal qualities. Therefore, we see that you are a good role model and have the ability to contribute to a positive work climate in the team. Good cooperation skills, flexibility, and a professional approach with patient safety in focus together with colleagues and management.

Requirements

• Experience in emergency care or geriatrics
• Swedish at least C1 level
• Proof of protected professional title for nursing assistants
• Alternatively: Employer certificate confirming that you were permanently employed as a nursing assistant on July 1, 2023, according to the transitional provisions in the Patient Safety Act (2010:659)

Meritorious

• Advanced training in elderly care
• Completed supervisor training
• Experience in improvement work
