Department of Infectious Diseases
We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer care to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is hailed as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (http://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!
Our Operations
In the infectious disease department, adult patients with severe infections, infectious diseases, tropical medicine diseases, and immunodeficiency diseases are cared for. Infectious diseases have an interesting aspect in that we can follow the development through human history and its global connections, where you meet patients of different ages and life stages. We are an acute care department where all patients come in through the emergency department or the infectious disease clinic. Infectious disease care often involves solving puzzles in a team from a person-centered perspective. Please watch the film about our work in infection here – Infection - a detective work with global connections | Akademiska (https://www.akademiska.se/for-vardgivare/verksamhetsomraden/infektion/infektion---ett-detektivarbete-med-global-anknytning/)
Department of Infectious Diseases
The Department of Infectious Diseases is entering an exciting phase of development where we are looking for more engaged employees who are ready to think outside the box. At the beginning of the year, we implemented changes in the department such as streamlining rounds, daily management, and healthier working hours as part of creating an even better work environment. We work in teams around the patient, and there are several functions in the department that support the work around the patient. The department includes nursing assistants, nurses, doctors, clinical pharmacists, ward pharmacists, dietitians, kitchen assistants, social workers, medical secretaries, receptionists, staffing assistants, educational nurses, nursing-leading nursing assistants, nursing-leading nurses, and quality-responsible nurses. These professions can relieve tasks such as preparing antibiotics, medication questions, ADL assessments, discharge planning, and consulting and brainstorming during complex nursing assessments.
Your Mission
As a nurse in the infectious disease department, you are responsible for the care of patients with varying monitoring needs together with your nursing assistants. Our patients have fluctuating nursing needs that create a varying work pace with sometimes rapid changes in the patients' conditions. No day is like the other here. As a nurse, you are responsible for leading and distributing the work within the team, and together with your colleagues, you are responsible for a good work environment. We have close cooperation with our doctors who are available in the department throughout the day.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. You can be completely new to the profession or have worked as a nurse for a longer time. We see you as an important person in our operations where we value a positive work climate where all employees thrive and feel safe. If you are curious, proactive, and collaborative, then this job is perfect for you!
We Offer
We offer a permanent full-time position, with start date according to agreement. A probationary period may apply. Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, nights, and weekends according to agreement.
- Well-structured introduction of 5 weeks consisting of both clinical and theoretical sessions tailored individually together with our educational nurses
- Healthy scheduling focusing on recovery. For example, the day shift starts at 07:30 in the morning and the evening shift ends at 21:30
- A hospital care supplement of 2000 SEK/month for a 100% working rate is received in addition to the base salary. There is also a compensation for employees who rotate between day/evening and night shifts of up to 2000 SEK/month.
- A clinical development year (KUÅ) (20% of your working time) is included for all newly graduated nurses, where you can deepen your knowledge.
- Training sessions occur regularly in the extended overlap time with others in the staff group. There is also an opportunity to take our internal training in infectious care
- For those interested in specialist training in Infectious Care, there is an opportunity to study during working hours. You study 50% at the university and work 50% clinically over two academic years and receive a full-time salary for this.
