to apply for the job

Do you want to work helping people live as independently and actively as possible?

Do you enjoy variation in your work, problem-solving, and development work in your daily routine? Then this is the workplace for you! As we have employees retiring this summer, we are now looking for two new colleagues who want to be part of our team!

About us

The rehab team in Sala municipality is a wonderful and ambitious group consisting of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and rehab assistants. We are responsible for rehabilitation efforts for patients in ordinary housing (home care), in short-term units, in special housing, and within the area of disabilities. We are a relatively large workgroup that is divided into smaller workgroups based on the area of operation. What unites us all is our passion for ensuring that the municipality's residents receive the best possible care based on their individual needs, goals, and conditions. By sharing ideas, thoughts, and experiences with each other, we constantly seek improvements and see opportunities in the challenges we face. You will be offered a positive and secure working environment with many engaged and knowledgeable colleagues! We actively work to ensure good and safe care for our patients according to the municipality's values: Simple - Efficient - Citizen-friendly.

Your tasks

We are looking for occupational therapists for both special housing and home care. You will primarily work in one of the areas, but work in other areas may occur.

As an occupational therapist in ordinary housing, you will work throughout the municipality with our office facilities at Sala hospital as your base. You will be part of a team together with a physiotherapist, nurse, rehab assistant, and home care staff, and will be responsible for occupational therapy assessments and interventions for the municipality's residents who need rehabilitation efforts in their own homes. You will also have close collaboration with unit managers and coordinators in home care, case managers, and external actors such as primary and inpatient care. Sharing facilities with the region's rehab staff at the hospital also provides opportunities for knowledge exchange and facilitates collaboration during discharge from the care department.

As an occupational therapist in special housing, you will preliminarily be responsible for the unit at Johannesbergsgatan 2, a modern and relatively newly built residence in Sala with 80 apartments for multi-sick elderly people with high care needs. You will have your base at the unit and work closely with physiotherapists, rehab assistants, nurses, unit managers, and care staff. You will also have the opportunity to perform administrative tasks in our shared office facilities at Sala hospital.

Whether you work in ordinary or special housing, there are good opportunities for experience exchange, help, and support when needed, as you have daily contact with your colleagues in the rehab team. Occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and rehab assistants working in special housing meet at least once a week for joint assessments, and every other week the entire rehab team meets for joint workplace meetings. The work is free and varied. Through a person-centered approach, you plan and perform occupational therapy assessments, interventions, and follow-ups based on the individual's goals and conditions. You have a natural and active role in the team around the patients regarding preventive, function-preserving, and activity-promoting efforts. Together with the unit manager and other colleagues, you are also involved in the quality and development work of the operations. In addition to the patient-related work, your tasks also include supporting, mentoring, and to some extent educating care staff in function- and activity-preserving methods and assistive technology management. It may also be relevant to supervise students from the occupational therapy program that has recently started at Uppsala University.

What we are looking for

We are looking for you who are a licensed occupational therapist, preferably with a couple of years of experience in the profession. Previous experience in municipal elderly care or home rehabilitation is an advantage, as well as if you have prescription rights for assistive devices in Västmanland, or further education in, for example, geriatrics, dementia diseases, or other qualifications deemed suitable by the employer. You are engaged in your work, curious, and want to learn and develop in your daily work. You find it easy to collaborate, have a good attitude, and strong communication skills with patients, relatives, colleagues, and others. The tasks are varied and of different character, which requires you to be responsible, structured, flexible, and solution-focused.

What you get

We want you to feel comfortable and well at work, and therefore Sala municipality offers several benefits for you as an employee. We are very keen that you receive a good and individually tailored introduction, especially if you are new to the profession. In addition to friendly colleagues and a varied job, you will receive:

  • Flexible working hours
  • Health allowance of 2000 SEK/year or the option to exchange the health allowance for a health examination
  • Opportunity to work some time remotely
  • Opportunity for professional development during working hours

Other

A driving license and experience driving a car are required. You also need to be able to ride a bike. The work requires computer skills and a good ability to communicate in Swedish, both orally and in writing. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
