Air Combat School is Looking for Psychologists for the Special Selection Department

About the Unit and the Applying Department

The Air Combat School (LSS) is the Air Force's joint competence center for education and development. At LSS, there are the Air Force's schools, the Air Force's development unit, and the Armed Forces' Dog Service Unit. LSS plays a crucial role in the development and growth of the future Air Force.

The Special Selection Department is part of the Air Force Command School (FBS) at LSS. The Special Selection Department employs 12 psychologists, a coordinator, and a test leader. The work mainly consists of selection for personnel categories where the Armed Forces need to conduct an in-depth psychological assessment due to the high demands of the position or training.

Main Responsibilities

As a psychologist, you will primarily work with suitability assessments of applicants for various positions and training within the Armed Forces. A common task is to manage test results and conduct interviews that lead to suitability assessments. A significant part of the work is done together with other psychologists and military personnel in a so-called commission procedure. In the commission work, you as a psychologist will present your assessments.

The work includes not only the selection process but also follow-up on completed selections, participation in development work, training efforts, etc. There are tasks that need to be carried out on-site at the Armed Forces' units around the country. Typically, this means about 10–15 travel days per year.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • is a licensed psychologist with at least 4 years of experience
  • has worked with confidential information
  • has a good ability to express themselves in Swedish, both orally and in writing
  • has good knowledge of English
  • is a very experienced user of Microsoft Office, focusing on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Personal Qualities

You should be able to work independently in your professional role and make necessary decisions with good judgment. You collaborate well and have an unpretentious and solution-oriented approach. You are a stress-resistant person who creates good structure. You are reliable and handle sensitive information carefully. You have good analytical skills and are open to further education and supervision.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Meritorious

It is advantageous if you:

  • have worked with work-psychological selection
  • have experience with personal assessments
  • are familiar with test administration and test assessment
  • have previous experience from the Armed Forces and/or another government agency
  • have military experience
  • have experience as a teacher/instructor
  • have worked on longer development projects within the field of psychology during your career
  • are knowledgeable in psychometrics
